I think shopping is a great form of exercise, and if you're feeling like stepping it up and working the upper body buying some nice new stuff to carry round is the way to go ;)

Lol! What an amazing combination!! My uncle lives in Barry, and met his wife there. He's got a tick Yorkshirey accent and she's really Welsh sounding, it's hillaraious to hear them nattering away. Well done on the two pounds! I have a boyfriend who in the last few days has taken to buying me tasty treats. He's a pastry pusher!!!!! I think I've eaten 2lb of pecan pies!

I'll be back to it tomorrow - even given up chocolate for lent!

It's always hard around easter 'cause creme eggs are back, but I did it last year with a housemate trying to get me to break, even trying to spike my rice crispies with cocoa pops! Can you believe it?!

Jen, I love your creative idea!!! However, I would have to either cross country ski or walk around 200 miles to get to my nearest outlet, so doubt if I would even make it by summer.
I have lost 10 pounds in the past month, mostly by watching my fat intake, and not eating sweets or salt. I started walking with DH yesterday in Cardiac rehab, and made my self go out and walk around our city park today, which is equal to a mile. Hopefully I can keep this up!!!

DH had some sugar free chocolate that I had given him at Christmas time. I decided today to eat a piece, after not eating anything sweet for the past month, I almost gaged, it was so sweet. ( normally it doesn't taste sweet to me.)

I just finished reading this entire thread--actually did not notice it existed until yesterday! anyway, I will be 49 years old next month and I tip the scales at 215lbs. I am 5'4" tall and heaven only knows I should have realized before now that I am fat! Just had one of those aha moments and thought to myself--"Good god woman, you're fat! how in the world did this happen? " Weird how these things hit you. Well I am embarking on a journey to relearn how to eat right. I am starting with getting rid of the massive bloat that has overtaken my belly.
I am on day 4 of this first phase and day 5 I will be starting the small meals, 4 times a day, low carbs, good fats, unprocessed fresher foods, balanced food groups, no refined sugars(not a real problem, salt is my evil little friend),low sodium, plan your meals and snacks ahead of time--diet for life!!!
Yeah, a lot to strive for, but I taught my kids the right way to eat and they learned well--so I know I can do this.

so, my goal is 145lbs---it will be a long journey.

Ghost- congrats on the toning! That's great! It has to be muscle gain because there's just no way you failed to lose weight- you've been working out like a mad woman. You're boosting your metabolism, and weight training is FANTASTIC for your bones. Way to go!

Welcome Duhmoms! It sneaks up on you doesn't it? It's happened to me too. When I was in college I hit my thinnest, and not even 3 years later I was at my absolute heaviest. My OMG moment came when I saw a picture of myself and I looked pregnant. Good luck! It sounds like you know how it's done...the big thing is to just keep at it. We're here for support.

I just wanted to encourage you all and do not be discouraged by a scale! I have been trying to tone up my body for the longest time. I get discouraged because my weight never changes but i know my body has changed in the last two years. Sometimes I second guess myself though and get discouraged again because its kind of hard to tell if there is a difference when you see your body everyday. Im in college and an exercise science major so I get to do hydrostatic weighing tests (figure out your precent body fat) and although my weight has not changed at all i have dropped a good 5% in body fat in the last year or two, thats a good 7 pounds of fat loss for me and the scale has never budged. I know that does not sound like a lot of weight in the past two years but I am really petite (5'3) and I was healthy to begin with. I am just trying to get those stubborn pounds of fat off. So 5 pounds of fat is a big deal for me! I just have to remind myself sometimes that I really should not pay attention to the scale. Also its a lifestyle change not a temporary thing. That was one thing that took me a while to get my mind around. Its about being healthy for life! So try to eat healthy (but don't beat yourself up if you slip!) and try to exercise a couple times a week and I promise you there are changes happening (even if the scale doesn't show it)! Also some resistance training does the world of difference! Thats when I started seeing "real" changes. After all "muscle burns fat"! And also exercise can be fun! If your hating it, try something different!
