Nice job with your total weight loss! You will get right back on track, I just know it!

I have been trying to exercise more and today I found a great video on Netflix for people with chronic pain. I think I might be able to stick with this one because it focuses a lot on the mental aspect of yoga practice. :)

You're still doing wonderfully! It's so hard to resist temptation during the holidays when people are handing you cookies right and left. I've gained too- and am back to super strict diet until my size 12's fit better.

@Zeebs- Thank you so much for posting about Netflix! I just did the Chronic Pain yoga video and it was just what I needed. I'm sore, tired, and the most relaxed I've been in a while. Namaste.

Hi All!

I'm new on this thread and I've been rather shy about posting - but you gals are so supportive and that's just what I need to get back on the weight-loss wagon. I was the fittest in my freshman year of high school, 4.5 years ago and weighed 50 kilos (I'm only 158cm). I got there because I had an intense summer training with the ex-coach of the Chinese national swim team and eating VERY mindfully, started eating veggies and cut back on sugar, the basics. I kept at around 51-52 kilos for about a year but then slowly gained to about 55 kilos til HS grad. Now, in year 2 of university, I've gained to 60 kilos!!!!!!!!!!!!! Talk about freshman 15 :( Swimming isn't very big at my university and I've been miserable there... I hated the school. Comfort food was always within reach and I have a weakness for bubble tea and other snacks. I'm about a US size 6 now but would like to go back to a 2 or 4. Of course these sizes vary depending on the brand...

So now! I will go back on a diet. I don't think I can replicate the summer with the crazy coach, but I will exercise 5-6 times a week, even if it's just going for a jog or a dip. I'm pretty good with drinking water, but over this past year I've started drinking other stuff too (I used to basically only drink water). As for cutting sugar - perhaps I'll limit myself to one sweet treat to twice every week? How does that sound? Carbs... This is a difficult one. I don't like salad too much because there aren't very creative ones here - basically pale lettuce and mayo or thousand island (I don't live in the US or Europe). Veggies will be a must with dinner and I'll try to incorporate them for lunch as well (usually our cafeteria lunch consists of something over rice, and that something consists of veggies as a sidenote, if at all). A piece of fruit with breakfast and for snacking on. This sound healthy? Anything I'm missing? Y'all are so inspiring, following this thread ups my motivation already :)

I think I owe you a big thank you! It's really inspiring to see what one woman can do when she sets her mind to it. It's a rare thing to see someone achieve what you have, and I hope that you're proud of yourself- because you should be. I simply cannot wait to read your best seller because no one has ever written a diet book from an actual dieter's perspective.

That scale has to be wrong this week...I know that some scales don't measure right if someone's talking on a cell phone or using a microwave (we had a scale like that at the office)- or if they're not sitting on a completely level surface. Of course, if it had said that you lost another 5 lbs I'd say it was perfectly calibrated.

I am with Karen...you are truly an inspiration. As for the scale, I bet if you weighed in tomorrow, it would show something different. I know I have enough of a water fluctuation to show up like that at times. It is frustrating, but I admire your attitude about it.

Keep up the great work. This is just a tiny bump along the way.......

Well done Sarah I just don't know how you've managed to keep it up for so long! You must have willpower of steel!!! Can you send some my way I think I've put on a few turkey's worth and just can't seem to get back in to it... ho hum! I weigh myself on my wii fit and my weight ]can go up or down on that about 5lbs in a day and you'd think that'd be accurate (then it asks you to explain yourself.. *guilt!*).

Water retention can really add to weight, and muscle building's a big one too. When I went through my gym phase I put on weight but lost inches, the waistbands's the best measure!

Well done again you're an inspiration!

Karen: you nearly brought me to tears, thank you so much for your encouragment. Yeah I'm in talks to appear on oprah - teehee  Yes I agree the scale must have been having an off day (and if I lost another 5lb I'd say they were okay too - teehee)

Jen: Yes I hope it's water fluctuation too, but keep our fingers crossed for me next week just in case :D . Truth is it's me just being stubborn. I'm angry at those scale so I'm gonna show them something next week.

Hehe I'll put those balls to some good use ;) I was all ready to be good today, then my dad popped down to Brum with a load of cream cakes, oh dear... but I only ate half of one and gave the rest to my housemates! Go me (kind of!)! Though my step mum packed me a load of fish so it's half healthy :)
