EmSilkNat-

It is possible that the formula of All purpose just isn't right for you. I would try Medium Coverage. I think the Heavy will not be to your liking. The recipe will likely require quite a bit less white than you are using. It will be back to the drawing board as far as depth, but your color bases will still be the same. I would try around 30 scoops of Medium Coverage for your recipe.

Yes, by a blender I mean something like an off brand magic bullet personal blender that you can dedicate just to makeup.

As for your concealer, I would first try adding a powder over the cream concealer that is closest. From there, you could attempt to mix the powder in, but I am not sure that would yield a very even tone. I think you're just going to have to experiment.

I am new to Silk Naturals and posting questions, but i need some advise with color mixing for foundation. I am told that I am NW25 in MAC Cosmetics. I have rosacea and have heard great things about this line of mineral makeup providing natural looking, good coverage. Can anyone suggest some mixtures to start with? I have attached a picture without makeup. Thank you!!

I think you will be an Olive.....1 scoop color with about 9-12 white depending on the base you choose. (lower numbers for heavier coverage...)

Hi!
Need foundation help, please... both photos were taken indoor, the 1st one with natural light (sunlight from the window) and the 2nd one with artificial light.

I always assume I am between olive or gold, because any foundation with pink in it would look ashy on me. Should I go for buttery gold, or olive?

Thanks, all... :)

You are right that you will be an Olive or a Buttery Gold. I tend to lean Olive for you just because the pics don't read very yellow. I still recommend samples just so you can be sure of the color as well as the formula.

In Buttery Gold you will be 1 scoop color to about 4 or 5 white
In Olive you will be 1 scoop color to about 8 or 9 white

Thanks for your answer, Jen.
I read someone's blog with olive skintone that she uses buttery gold and a little bit of green color booster to get the shade of olive. Can I try this instead of buying an olive color base? I am just concern that maybe the olive base would not be yellow enough for me. I think I'll buy a full starter kit instead of trying the sample first, because the shipping cost can be expensive to order back and forth.

Thank you for your help.

Yes! I do think Buttery Gold plus Green Booster is a good idea if you have yellow undertones. There is only a little in the way of yellow in our olive shade.

Hello Jen,

You have given me a foundation recipe that works really well. My question now would be what do I have to change when spring comes and my skin gets a bit darker and in the summer when I get tanned?

2 Ebony: 1 Warm Gold: 22 white.

Many thanks!

Less white in the mix. If you are trying to adjust what you have, you might want to consider mixing up your color bases in the right ratio in a separate container. Then you could just add a little more color as you go.
