Hi Susan.....
I think the only think I might do is lighten it a bit. Try 2:7......1:3 seems a tad dark, and I you said 1:4 or (2:8) is too light. Since you are in the higher color ratio, we can't only play around with the Ivory numbers. Let me know if there is something you feel is not right and we can work from there...pics only tell so much. To get the best feel for the color, you almost have to test run it a few days.

Hi! I am so happy since I got my samples in the mail today. Before I mess everything up I thought I might ask for some advice on which foundation mix I should do. I am thinking it's probably Ebony but still, better be safe than sorry.

Here are two pics of me, none too recent (I'm ill at the moment and don't feel like taking pics of myself).

This one is taken maybe two years ago and I can't remember what make up I'm using, I think it's only a translucent powder (perhaps some bronzer), but before I started using mmu I didn't really use any base or blushes. I put this here because at the moment my hair is this colour.

Image

This one is taken this summer. I'm using Everyday Minerals mmu and the base is Cool Fair (probably mixed with Cool Fair medium). Lately I have been feeling that cool fair makes my face a bit too pink and pale and doesn't fully match my neck.

So please give me suggestions on what mix/mixes I could try :) Thanks in advance!

Hi Parakeet,
Ebony is going to be the closest. I would start at about 1 scoop Ebony:9 Ivory and add more Ivory if you need it.

I just received my foundation sample kit, yesterday. I ordered all the bases, including Peach, just in case. However, since I have no idea what I'm doing, I would like to get an idea of what to start with. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

At first glance, I definitely think Warm Gold 1:4-6 Ivory. Do you need more help than just a ratio to begin? I know this foundation is nowhere near the traditional route, so all questions are valid. I will be checking in a few times in the next several hours.

Thanks Jen,

I added a couple of scoops of Ivory and I think it looks great I am going to try it for a couple of days and see how it works. I will post another pic a littler if you don't mind taking a look for.

Thanks again for all the help. I am glad I finally took the plunge because I really like the finish it is so natural looking, but still has coverage. I didn't think you could have both.

Hi everyone! My name is Crystal and I'm new to the forum. Some of you might remember me from the EDM forum. Well, I wanted to try SN foundation and was wondering if I could get some help with my shade. Lately, I've been using EDM Cool Multitasking Neutral intensive with Cool Medium intense layered on top followed by a light dusting of bronzer on my cheeks, nose, chin and forehead. Lately though, I've been wondering if I'm really a cool, or if it's just redness from my acne scarring. My veins kinda look blue, but sometimes I think I see green too. :? As far as I can tell, I look good in both gold and silver, and I can wear white and ivory. Here are some pics.

Thanks for all your help!

Your first picture looks cool, and the second one looks a bit warmer. That's OK.

In your samples picture, the gold-tones don't suit your skin very well. I think I'd start with about 7 ivory to 1 ebony, and see how that suits - you may need to go a little bit lighter or darker but that's about where I'd peg you from seeing your pics. You can always pick up a sample of warm gold (it's only a dollar) just in case you need a little warming up but from the samples, you look more cool-neutral to me, so ebony's likely your best bet.

You might also like to try a touch of the zinc powder under your foundation - it does help to tone down redness, and is good for irritated skin generally.
