August 2007---My first order from SN wasn't for me, it was a Deluxe Sample kit for my Mom for her birthday! She wanted to use MMU, but wasn't thrilled with the 2 popular brands she'd tried. So I did some research for her and came across SN. Karen mentioned in her foundation blurb on Ebay it's great for rosacea and I figured if the foundation was light enough for Karen, it would be light enough for my Mom! No bismuth oxychloride, custom blend foundation, great price, so I ordered it from NZ and silently pouted a bit that I couldn't try it too.(Money was tight and I didn't realize SN shipped internationally for such reasonable prices). My Mom loved the products and Karen was so nice about making sure there was no carmine in the items I ordered for her!

July 2008---I'd used up most of the makeup I brought over with me and decided to suck up what I thought would be high shipping costs and order. I placed a big order to make shipping costs worth it and was delighted to see shipping wasn't anything near what I expected!! Some of my order I wasn't thrilled with, Hot Blooded was too pigmented for me, Mystic didn't thrill me scent-wise, but I fell in love with Vanilla, Gold Blush lippie and the eyeshadow brush! They were absolutely perfect...still are. ;) After much trial and error I found a foundation mix that looked okay and stuck with it because I adored the texture and airbrushed look of it compared to the liquid I was using. SN's foundation was my closest match ever and gave me hope I'd one day find a blend that matches my skin perfectly.

After that I placed big orders a few times a year (birthday, Christmas, etc...) to hit over the free international shipping limit, each one feeding the addiction big time! Since we've been back in the US I've enjoyed the smaller, more frequent orders that let me try out some of the GWPs! :D

my second order was 2 rare berry glosses cause i was worried it was going to be LE :)

and my third order i think was my first try at perfecting powder...still my one true MU love!

I remember I was 9 months pregnant when I placed my very first SN order. My little girl is 10 months old now, and she just started walking today. :D

Nov. 29, 2009: I got 8 full-size blushes (Babydoll, Charming, Cosmic, Embraced, Lady, Satisfied, Stardust, and Tart). I also ordered 5 morphing eye shadows (Fairy Dust, Groove, Jean Queen, Pop, and Quiver). I got 4 lippies (Berry Crush, Breathless, Raindrops on Roses, and Rare Berry). I added some foundation samples too. Tailfeather was the free GWP, and I requested Sizzle, Shimmy, and Superfly as my free e/s. Plus, I received a free sample of Sizzle.

A week later, I placed my 2nd order (just before I realized I was in labor). LOL! It was Dec. 7, 2009, and the GWP was Pretty. I went to the hospital that same day, and when I returned home from the hospital with my baby girl, my SN package was waiting for me. I got 3 eye shadows (Breathe, Butterfly Blue, and Idolize), then I requested Bling as my free e/s. I also got 2 more lip glosses (Infatuation and Pout), the Eyelash Conditioning Gel, and a couple of Mixing Mediums. And I received a free sample of Figment. :)

My first order (that I can find a record of) was in May of 2007, back when Karen was selling on Ebay. I ordered the "Sheer Essentials 10 pc. Minerals Makeup Kit-Bare Cover". I can't remember everything that was in it, but I do remember that it did include samples of:

Perfect Harmony Foundation (Ivory & Ebony)
Climax Blush
Truffle Shadow
Perfecting Powder
and probably Date Bait

I loved the idea of custom mixing my own foundation, and loved the finish that Karen's provided. Unfortunately for me, at the time the only color available was ebony, and it was (and still is,) way too pink for me. :( So I lurked for a while and eventually Karen added more base colors and formulas. It was worth the wait! :D Now I'm hooked on just about everything she makes!

Interesting bit of trivia: Back then Karen was selling under the ID "silkperfection".

1 x Sample Date Bait
1 x Sample Flirt Blush
1 x Sample Oil Control Blur Finishing Powder
1 x Sample Nectarine Blossom and Honey
1 x Empty 50 ml Foaming Bottle
1 x Sample Sleep in a Jar
1 x Sample Sexy Vanilla Solid Fragrance
1 x Sample Beach Bunny Bronzer
1 x Sample Hemp Moisturizer
1 x spray nozzle for toners

1 x Sample Super Serum
1 x Sample BHA toner

I also got Plush as my free eye shadow (I think Twister was the GWP).

My first order was December 2, 2007. I know that it included the Stonewashed nudes, a sample foundation kit , Dait bait, and samples of at least 3 blushes( Jamie, Foxxy, and I think Vino). A friend of mine had sent me a tube of Birthday Suit that she couldn't wear,so I actually tried something from everything that Karen was making at the time. Like the other poster , Ebony was to pink for me, but I loved the other products, and I'm sure glad I stuck around.

If looking back at my order history and if it's accurate, my first purchase was back in October 2007.

I found out about SN through MMM. Susan (rubycate), an online friend (who I miss!), mentioned SN and their lippies. It took me awhile to get on the bandwagon but I finally caved and bought Birthday Suit. I remember being scared that It'd be too brown just by looking at the tube but it was quite sheer. I loved how moisturizing it felt. I no longer have it but I now have at least 7 SN lippies in my purse as we speak.

I didn't purchase anything from SN for awhile since SN has more subdued e/s colors and at the time I wanted bright and bold. I also didn't like the fact that e/s were in full sizes since I'm a sampling enthusiast. Now that I'm older I'm more into the more neutral shades and I'm just thankful that SN gives out freebie samples of their e/s with each order! :)

Not every product works for me but I like the company and the owner behind it so that is why I come back.

Hi all

My first purchase was when SN was selling through ebay and it was 3rd October 2007 and I brought two Sheer Essentials 14 pc. Minerals Makeup Kit-Bare Cover kits (basically starter kits one for me and one for mum).

It had:
two e/s vanilla and I want to say truffle
sample blush climax
1 ivory baggie
1 ebony baggie
sifter jar
mini scoop
perfecting powder
baby kabuki
small blush brush
sample of date bait
clear lipgloss - very yummy
Think I've missed one or two pieces :D

I have never been happier with my choice of cult 'crack' addiction
Foundation: 1: baggie 6: ebony: 7 glow
Fav blush: Steller
Fav Lippie: Symphony
Fav combo: cream 1st half of lid, 09:59 2nd half, chocolate twinkle in the crease with Blackheart over it blended out and vanillia on brow bone.

This thread is a real walk down memory lane....the kits!!! i.e. pretty much every product we made at the time in one organza bag. Those were the days. Yes, I started SN shortly after I turned 30 in 2006. I always liked lipgloss, but never really got into foundation etc because no one really made colors that matched me. MMU seemed promising, but the one that I ordered just wasn't my cup of tea. Back then we owned a software company, and I had a lot of free time, so I decided to just dabble a bit.

So, I made Perfecting Powder- and on a lark started selling it on eBay under the name Silk Perfection. That was going to be the one product I made, so the whole business was going to be named Silk Perfection. I told my husband that I was just going to keep it simple, and not make too many things. He rolled his eyes then, and to his great credit, never says "I told you so". He's a keeper!

I remember when the site went live- we were just on eBay from about November 2006 until August 2007. We had gotten a little bit of a mention on some of the boards- and then we launched the site. I went away on vacation that next month, and got a call from Jamie saying "what the heck did you do? They just keep ordering stuff on the site!". I remember sitting in a courtyard in Italy, and ordering more supplies so they could be in the shop when I got back because they were really running low in the shop. Looking back it must have been Jen (who was the first real addict I "met") or Mikie singing our praises on MMM.

Carpe Diem was the very first Black Label. They were born because I bought a $50 lipstick at Barney's that was supposed to be the ultimate in luxury, but the formula was pretty much gussied-up petroleum jelly. So, I got back and went to work on the Black Labels.

The time has gone by so quickly. So many ups, and downs, and I'm really grateful for those of you who did recognize the potential, and stuck around. And, I'm glad that you've all joined in here. THANK YOU!!!!! You all have had a hand in this company, and it's really an honor.
