I lost my 2 furbabies today

Thanks, ladies.
Right now, I am trying to figure out the best way to break it to my kids. They haven't really noticed yet, as they were more MY cats than anybody else's. I have a feeling they will get more caught up in the general sadness of the situation, than in the genuine loss itself, if that makes sense.
I will have to dig deep into my reserves of patience, and tolerance; since frankly, all I wanna do right now is burrow into my pillow and cry. I just don't know if I have it in me to comfort someone else, even my kids.
I know that sounds really selfish and self-absorbed...I don't mean it to.
Richard had to *man up* and go to work today. The least that I can do is be a good mom about this.

Laurie, Big hugs, I am so sorry for you . Remember that you were a very good furbaby mother who gave her furbabies a wonderful life for 12 years and in the end made the hard and right choice and did what was best for them.

Ahh lots of love to you. With 30+ years of having cats and having done cat rescues and rehoming with the cats protection league, my heart goes out to you for how much strength it takes to allow the final act of love. The sadness won't last so very long before the laughter comes back with the happy memories. That love stays.

Aw Laurie, I'm so sorry to hear about that. I feel strongly about the fact that when we take responsibility for pets we need to provide for their needs and take care of them since they are unable to make decisions for themselves, and it sounds like you did exactly that, even though it was hard. My dog is 14 now and believe me, I dread the day I will have to make a decision like that. In that way, I can understand somewhat how you must be feeling. Sending you hugs, I am so sorry.
My friends had to decide to let their cat go a couple years ago. He had what I assume was renal failure although they never did the lab tests to confirm. The cat was very ill though and getting worse. They have 2 kids who are possibly? a little younger than yours. They told their kids they had taken the cat to the vet and he was so sick that he died there. They left out the part of having to make the decision to let him go. I think they did not want to upset them further by trying to make them understand why they made that decision.

I just saw this post today, but my heart goes out to you. I just recently went thru this with my sweet Mr. Andrew cat, he was 16 and had a wonderful life. He was my most lovable Don Juan and I am so sad, nearly everyday I miss him. I also lost my Angel to a horrible blood virus that she could never shake, she was 7 and my kitty only and I adored her so the decision to let her go was devastating.
Enough about mine though---Just want to send my love and understanding for your loss.

it's so weird, when I lie down on the couch or the bed, I keep expecting one of them to jump up on my lap.
It is getting easier, though. And I know they aren't suffering.
