What to do in Europe?? Switzerland??

Post by karen » Mon Jul 20, 2009 2:19 am

We're leaving for Europe on Wednesday, and because the trip kind of snuck up on me I just haven't had a chance to do much research/planning other than getting the tickets. We're visiting DH's mother in the south of France- about an hour north of Marseilles-but we're actually flying into Zurich because the ticket was cheap.

I know we have quite a few European customers...is there anything on the trip that we shouldn't miss? It's looking like we're going to spend a couple of days driving- through Lichtenstein, Austria, down to Milan, and then along the coast. What's cool in Switzerland?

It has been a long time since I was in Switzerland, but I think an absolute must is the Interlaken and Lauterbrunnen area. The most stunning scenery in Europe! The mountains, lakes, cows with bells, cog railway up to the top of the mountain - very envious of you Karen! In Austria, Vienna is beautiful of course. And i've heard great reports about Salsburg (though haven't been there myself). I'm sure there are others who have some good suggestions too. Have a great trip!

I've spent the last couple years helping a good friend with his new website, panoramicearth.com. He's a photographer and traveler and their (English / Austrian) family has built a unique software which shows 360 degree panoramic photos. Most of the work has gone into the techy stuff behind the scenes (work still needs done on the site's visual styling and design and some catch-up work on the info write-ups to go with the photos) but if it helps, there's a lot of pro- and amateur photographic coverage for the region you're travelling to. Hope it might help inspire some ideas for travel plans.

Hugs and hopes that you have the most wonderful and blessed time :)

Have a great time. I would love to see Vienna.
