some color-new shadows

Post by Shirin » Sun Jul 05, 2009 8:24 am

Hi,
first of all Karen, thanks for all those brilliant new shadows - i love both the mattes and the morphing shimmery ones!!
I am filling up another order, have chosen lots of shadows, much more than I need.

Here is what I defintely want:

Dove (was so much looking for this color in matte, looks pretty natural and refreshing on olive skin)
Chamois (not sure but I think will look good on me)
Pop (in love with that puple, perfect purple)
Quiver (looks so interesting and from Nekkid i know it'd suit me)

Here are the colros i am interested in but have some suspicions that they aren't the best colors for my complexion and eye color:
Lime (might be too bright/light green for me?)
Ballerina ( might make me look worn out?)
Iris (might just not be the right color for me?, Pink Twink is not the right purple for me)
(I like Escape as a purple color)
I also noticed how pretty Danny looks, can i wear it with Dove or Slick maybe?

I know i could just order all these colors as they are such a bargain, but i just hate the idea of storing things up aithout really using them, and I am not that much of a make-up for fun person, I have to admit it I'm lazy when it comes to doing a pro sophisticated maek-up, been doing it yesterday, took me an hour, but although it was definitely worth it - not sthg i'd do every-day! When it comes to skin care i am much more disciplined and take my time though :)

I am really so happy with the new shadows and the skincare developing :D !

Thanks in advance for your help!

Oh, I must ahve bored everyone with my color questions again! :? Seems like I am obsessed with finding colors that work best with my complexion.
I will experiment a bit. Have never used colorful shadows before. So now it's the time, I will decide afterwards if it's for me or not. I am an old-fashiopned person and never dress in a modern way.

Just a question how shimmery is Quiver, Pop and Jean Queen compared to the metallic shimmery shadows like Nekkid? More sparkly? Disco-like shimmer?

Hi Shirin :) There's a great photo of swatches of each of those new shimmery colours. So far, I've got Fairy Dust and the photo is very accurate. The only thing the photo lacks is to show the exquisite detail of how delicate the colours are and how they come alive so differently in different lights. Truly 'sparkle' but for 'grown-ups'. 8-)

Asking for colour advice is always subjective when you ask what will suit you. You're a beautiful woman with - in my opinion - just about the most fun natural colouring for playing with makeup! With dark hair and fine skin and beautiful striking eyes, you can safely wear most colours.

How you wear them is purely down to your character and style. You can wear them to enhance your natural beauty, or go to the other end of the spectrum and wear colours like a costume to express facets of your character, or like 'trying on a different look / identity' just for fun. No-one can say 'this is right or wrong for you' beyond helping you to find colours which either work with your skin tone and eye colour, or stand out boldly against it to, say, emphasize an eye colour with colour-contrasts.

How about this? You're in Europe, aren't you? Here's a fun thing we can do. If you take clear sticky tape / sellotape / scotch tape and put a finger-print's worth of eyeshadow onto the sticky side, then seal it in, you get a clear slide / film with mineral eyeshadow trapped inside. Hold this against the skin to see how the colour works and it's the next best thing to trying it out for yourself. It's a cool way to sample without having someone mail you jars and jars of loose powder. If you send me a private message with an address, I'll work on making some 'swatch slides' for you in a variety of colours (I've got quite a few colours to choose from  ) and I'll send some over to you to play with to help you see what types of colours work for you, or what might just be plain old fashioned fun to try out. How's that? 8-)

Thanks a lot for your extensive help and kind compliments cupcake! :D
I will order Escape, Danny for sure and some others, some greys, I was at Sephora today and tried some purples, lilacs and blues, I didn't really like them on me. They did make my eye color come out right though, but I just fou nd it too much of a color or obvious make-up for my personal taste or personality. As I said I amnot a modern girl and not much of a fun person really. I really am a purist, hehe.
But hey the colors are so lovely I could spend hours looking at them. :D
But for use on my eyes I'll stick to peachy and rosy shadows and grey.

Once again tahnks again for your help, you are very kind! :)
