So I had a late night meander through the big brand name collection promo photos for this Autumn (Fall) and I am sooo excited by the themes. Smokey colours reminiscent of sultry jazz club chic, bright jewel tone blue-purples tempered into elegance by grey bases but with playful 'interference' in near-match complimentary tones - think royal purple base with midnight blue and ceylon sapphire toned shimmer. Lips are pale with grey-base pinks and satin finish glosses. I am sooo in love with the feel of this season debut, I can almost imagine hearing a saxophone playing the blues and bourbon glasses chinking in the background. I loved the playful but innocent flirtiness of the Spring pastels, but these collections are all about little girl has grown up and now dressed like a Woman (with a capital W).
So far, Dior's palettes stand out for me. I really want Givenchy's Le Poetique 9 colour cool toned palette just because of how beautiful it is. What have you got your eye on - or what types of colour are you hankering after next?

I'm on a serious copper kick at the moment, and that's probably going to last through the autumn (you need the shimmery party quad, all of you! And Cougar. And Wildcat. And Plush. And Legend. And Fire.). Oddly, the Smashbox palette didn't appeal to me at all (yes, I'm ill just now, but that's never stopped me - it could be because the colours were mostly ones I don't do well with).
Other than that, plums, purples, greys, taupes, olives, off-beat greens, and golds - which I've got in abundance, fortunately. Been wearing Embrace a lot for a blush, even though that's a more cool-weather colour than warm-weather, and Tender is my everyday lippie these days, even though that also seems more like a cool-weather colour. I like Summer Fling a lot, too, and Copper Rose, but am rationing those for the nonce - hope they come back. Plenty of Vintage and Raindrops on Roses for the cooler weather. Breathless is great for a grown-up pink, and if you haven't tried it yet, I think Whirlwind will look wonderful on you - I got a sample, really can't afford to buy just now, though.
Beloved and Rare Berry are great pinky-reds, and I love the gold in Beloved. Those will rock, too. Infatuation is another good one, though I've had to buy it four times because somebody always walked off with it! XOXO also being rationed, but I can see it for autumn.
