Stonewashed compared to Elegant Quad

Post by Ghost » Tue May 19, 2009 2:44 pm

hey guys

I have the stonewashed palette which I love but I was wondering how does it compare to the Elegant quad? Is it worth me buying the quad even though I have the stonewashed????? Would love to see any swatches if possible :D

I did buy my auntie the quad for xmas, but forgot to check out the colours before it was wrapped (I love buying pressy like that. They want it and I can check it out before I buy one myself  ).

thanks

I am too lazy to swatch at the moment but will do a rundown anyway.

Stonewashed Nudes: Bone (off-white), Quartzite(light tan), Aztec(golden tan), Terra (taupe), Moonstone(warm grey), Slate(cool grey), Basalt (brown black)
Elegant Brown Quad: Cream, Chic, Posh, Vogue (deep patinaed copper)

Texture: SWN are mostly shimmers, EBQ is mostly satin velvets

Color Translation:

Cream vs. Bone
Cream is a bit whiter and I prefer the satin finish over Bone's matte finish

Chic vs. Quartzite
Chic is a little darker than quartzite and more understated as a satin rather a shimmer. I still prefer quartzite though-it's more of a sandy color than chic.

Posh vs. Aztec
Posh is more neutral than Aztec (not as golden) and I think wearable for a wider variety of skintones. Again the understated satin finish gives it class. I prefer posh over aztec.

Vogue vs. Basalt
Vogue is a beautiful liner shade and can be used in the crease. It isn't nearly as dramatic as basalt and I definitely prefer it.

Awesome comparison, Sam!

I do think they are different enough. Also, the other colors in the SWN palette run on the neutral/slightly cool toned side. The overall color tone of the EBQ is slightly warm/neutral. And like Sam said, the finish is different.

Totally worth it. The Elegant Quad is less shimmery, and I tend to reach quite often for it for every day (work). As Samantha said, these are more "velvety" shades, understated, and so pretty.
