Hi,
So far, I've been going without foundation. Not that I have porcelain skin, but I am just a little daunted by the different shades. Blame it on inertia.
I just sprinkle on some finishing powder at the end, and so far it seems to work. Wondering if I am doing something wrong here? Anyone here goes foundation-less?
I've got a foundation sample, I will mix some to try one of these days..
Foundation-less, anyone?

Re: Foundation-less, anyone?
My skin is looking better lately, and the other day I ran out of foundation and was too lazy to mix, so I tried Date Bait only. Not bad! But I prefer a bit of coverage. I may downgrade to original coverage soon, I just like how it evens me out. The foundation, that is.
Re: Foundation-less, anyone?
lots of days i don't have time for much makeup, so i go with perfecting powder only. it makes me skin look very nice. foundation evens it out more, of course, and makes a real "blank canvas" to add blush, countour and highlighting powder, etc; but perfecting powder given a nice natural (but much better than a bare face) look.
perfecting powder is the only MM product that is truly holy grail for me. i have lots of great products, but it's amazing--it fills in my large pores and neutralizes redness...everyone needs to try this stuff (i like the untinted kind).

Kitten1711 gave me a fantastic tip - do your eye makeup first and then work on your foundation. As your foundation typically makes the canvas "blank", you can easily use too much eye colour, blush etc trying to compensate for the blandness of how your face looks with just foundation and concealers. If you do it the other way around, you'll likely use much less eye colour and, when your eyes are done, you'll likely use less foundation and concealer too as when you move onto applying foundation and concealers, the overall effect won't be as "bad" as your bare face with all it's little uneven colours, blemishes etc so you won't be as tempted to use as much cover.
I do have high or uneven colouring in a lot of places and I do use a heavy hand applying the foundation some days. I've tried this method and yes, it does work - although it takes some getting used to as it feels all wrong! You do come out looking a lot more natural and fresh-faced though, so it's excellent for spring and summer time.

Re: Foundation-less, anyone?
There's nothing wrong with skipping foundation! Back in the day- waaaay before anything- I had Perfecting Powder, and Date Bait- and just wore those. Now if I skip foundation I go for Blur- but as long as you're happy- go for it!! All of the finishing powders can be worn alone- or over foundation. I do wear foundation most of the time because I like the way it works- and the sun protection. I'm betting your recipe is probably pretty easy- but yep- some days you just can't think about one more thing.

Thanks Karen!!! I just love the way you put it
It seems like you know us personally - like friends!
Haha.. finally found the courage to mix my own foundation..
I tried
(A) 1 BG + 6 Ivory = too yellow
(B) 1 WG + 6 ivory = too brown/dead
(C) 1 ebony + 6 ivory = too red/dark, doesnt look right.
So I mixed (A)+(B)+1/2 of (C), added a few scoops of ivory to lighten it.
So now it stands at 1 BG + 1WG + 0.5ebony + 19 ivory (original). May need to use less ivory as the weather warms.
