skin tone definitions

So I'm a bit of a makeup newbie and I'm not really sure what to call my skin tone. Ethnically I'm Asian, which usually means warm, golden undertones (unless I'm mistaken), but I've had some cool toned lip color shades work for me. With clothing, I can generally pull off both jewel tones and warmer colors equally well. Does that mean I'm more neutral? And what exactly does olive skin mean (maybe example pictures would be helpful)?

I realize the color looks very different in the two photos. One's more my summer color, the other's my winter color.

I was looking at the foundations and saw two different things for "golden" and "yellow." What's the difference? I guess the thing to do would be to order some samples and experiment, but I wanted to see if any of the color experts on the forum can give me some advice.

In looking at your photos, I really don't see the yellow component much. Not all Asians fall into our Buttery Gold category. We have many Asian ladies who use some blend of Warm Gold and Ebony, or Buttery Gold and Ebony. Olive might also work for you.

You have lovely skin and I recommend our Original (lightest) coverage, which is the easiest to mix and get a match. All of the above colors are included in the kit at this link below. We also have a Medium and Heavy coverage, and additional pouches of Original Ivory available.

Yellow is just yellow.......golden is yellow with a brown component to it. Does that help?
