Acne scar

Post by LionT » Fri Mar 27, 2009 9:58 am

I recently had a bout of pimples (Eeeks!). They have healed, leaving slight darkening of skin at the scars.
I tried Unblush as a concealer. It doesnt really work that well for covering acne scars as it is too sheer (though the green tempers the red pretty well).
Any recommendation - I like the green, but something less sheer ?

Thks!

You can always mix up some foundation that is a bit lighter than what you normally use. Then apply it with a concealer brush. I ususally do this before I put on my foundation and touch up after.

Another trick is to use something with a little pearly sheen and dab a light touch of that on to the mark before covering with your regular concealer or foundation. It uses the principle of light reflection to diminish the appearance of the blemish, that in turn allows it to appear less dark and need less heavy colour to cover it. Overall, it makes is less obvious and softer. It's also a good trick to use a tiny touch of something pearly on dark under eye circles too. You can all too easily use too much, so tiny, tiny amounts. You can dab it on with a dampened brush too, to help it adhere and last longer. I have a lot of these kind of red scars (food allergy = frequent breakouts) so I find this to be the most effective way to cover them.. But.. if you need industrial strength concealing, a light touch of Karen's eyeshadow primer will white-out the blemish, and you can then dab your regular foundation on over it. That's good for rainy days and more durable for serious marks.
