eye shadow creasing
eye shadow creasing
I just got my oderder and I am soooo happy, happy, happy. I am in love with this makeup. The only problem that I have run into so far is that my eye shadow creases. I do not have the primer. Is there anything that anyone can think of to help with this? I did try using the blur I got to set it, but it did not help. One more question...the blur is a bit dark for me, unless I am using too much, can it be lightened with the finishing powder? Thanks to all. Lisa
Re: eye shadow creasing
I think many of us use a primer. I don't use one everyday, but I do most of the time. Karen sells one that is about the best as far as ingredients go. I know others use primers from some of the big makeup companies.

Re: eye shadow creasing
Thank you Jen. At this time I don't have any primer. Do you think patting some finishing powder on before the eye shadow will help? Think I will give that a try for now, until my next order.
To the helpers at SN that fill the orders. The choices you sent were fantastic and very appreciated. Shipping was amazingly quick. Thanks bunches. Lisa

It is always worth trying what you have before you get something else. You never know what might work.

Re: eye shadow creasing
The BEST primer I have tried (and admittedly, I have not tried Karen's) is Bare Escentuals "Prime Time". However, it is very expensive ($18 for about a two-month supply). I also like Origins Underwear for Lids, which is less expensive ($18 for six months or more). I just bought some Lancome and I'll let you know how that goes but I wholeheartedly recommend that you try Karen's, and if you don't have success with it, try the Bare Escentuals or Origins. A lot of people like Urban Decay but I find it too dry and hard to blend.
You can also buy cheaper primers at places like Walgreens or Target, but I assume Karen's is a much better value.
You can also use a petroleum-based product like Chapstick if you are hard up or Monistat anti-chafing gel - they will help with creasing and staying power.
HTH.

Thanks for the info. Will have to wait awhile before I can slip another order past the hubby lol...But then I am going to get the good stuff from Karen...and more I know. Cant resist. Such a bargain, and such quality. Lisa
Re: eye shadow creasing
I have trouble with some shadows creasing on me, I think a little perfecting powder may help, I can never remember to do that. I have Karen’s primer and I have not been able to get it to work for me, no matter how I apply it everything will crease, even shadows that normally don’t. The best primer I have ever used is the Body Shop Matte It, stops pretty much everything from creasing.

Re: eye shadow creasing
I've been using the Silk Natural's eyeshadow primer quite often lately, and like it. Eyeshadow stays put and does not fade or crease . . . for about 8 hours, on average. The lasting power kind of depends on the day I'm having . . . if I was sitting at work in the air conditioning, or outside working in the yard, etc.
Now, Urban Decay's Primer Potion stays put (and keeps my shadow fresh with no creasing or fading) until I take it off, essentially. I've had shadow stay in place for 12 hours using UDPP. Just won't budge, not without eye makeup remover. However, it is more expensive than Karen's primer, and contains a wider range of ingredients, some of which may irritate sensitive skin and eyes.
So, some days I use Karen's primer, and some days I opt for UDPP. Right at the moment I'm quite taken with the new UDPP in Sin (a shimmery champagne color). It really makes pinks and purples pop.
The one primer I've tried and DON'T like is MAC's paints. I know a lot of folks use the flesh-colored or neutral paints as eyeshadow primers or bases, and I've tried a couple, but really didn't like the result. Colors tend to fade after a while, and it's impossible for me to get colors to blend properly over a MAC paint base.
