I thought I’d make a new topic where we can post our raves- products that we have been especially impressed by.
I know I’m always easily led to new colours, and I always put off buying boring things like concealer. So this thread is a bit of inspiration to try things that are not necessarily exciting to buy, but work wonders.
So... I have two particular raves. The first is the Flat top brush. Before I bought this I was using the largest brush from the brush kit, and I’d had the flat top brush on my wishlist for ages but I kept putting off buying it because eyeshadows were so much more exciting and I could buy almost five for the same price as the brush. But once I got it- wow! It really makes a difference. My foundation has heaps better coverage and it takes much less time to do.
My other rave is the Oil control primer. I bought a sample when it first came out but didn’t really use it because it was the middle of winter and I didn’t need it. Now that its summer I’ve started using it and it’s amazing. The last few weeks we’ve had 40+ degree C (104+ degrees F) days almost all the time. Normally by lunchtime my forehead would be really greasy but with the primer it isn’t at all. I was completely surprised by how well it works. I’ve never had something that controls oil so well.
So… hope those reviews help someone to be inspired to buy something boring, but wonderful.
Who else has tried something that they’ve been amazingly impressed by?

Re: Raves!
I think you are right - the more run of the mill item purchases (not that ANY of Karen's products are ordinary
) are put off in favour of the more colourful products.
I have 3 top faves which I think EVERYONE should know about:
Tempt Tryst finishing powder - (or whichever is your shade); gorgeous!!!! I have always liked this & have written a rave review about it but it really came into is own this weekend. I was away staying with family & had really limited packing space (I put all of my toilettries & cosmetics in a reglar purse sized makeup bag, to give you some idea) so took this along with me. I was v tired after a long journey, looked somewhat washed out & my skin just looked 'blah' (with a few minor blemishes); a one over with this and I was visibly perked up and fresher looking. I have no idea why when packing I picked this in preference to foundation but I'm glad I did.......my OH does not like the look of makeup generally but commented that I looked much revived after I'd brushed this on all over, and said he liked that he could still see my skin. It works brilliantly over foundation, don't get me wrong, but also gives a lovely, lighter, natural, glowy finish for days when you have lesstime (or would prefer just to wear less make up). It also makes a great 'diluting' product for shades you already own but may be too vibrant/pigmented, and a very subtly highlighter for the cheek bones, under the brow etc on days when you just want to look polished without looking 'made up'.
Ultimate e/s brush - this is great. A great space saver (see above!!) because it's very multipurpose. The angled brush is brilliant for applying colour to the brow or under the lash line, and the doe's foot is just the right shape for placement of shadow on your lid, in the crease or to sweep a highlight shade under your brow (with a bit of a wipe off in between).
Cabana, Disco & Bargain Pink e/s - these make beautiful shadows for green eyes & really make the colour 'pop' (I have never been a fan of pink shadows but these are fantastic). They are also wonderful as highlighting blushers, a bit like the glows, and give a lovely sheen to the cheeks when applied lightly. I have always viewed e/s purely as e/s, but since thinking about all mineral products as 'multi purpose' (only v recently I admit!) I have begun looking at items for their colour, rather than specifically for their stated purpose. i.e. I was a big fan of Foxxy blush & about to buy the full size after sampling it, just before it was discontinued. It was a pale, shimmery pink so I am thinking that maybe one of the new Valentine's e/s shades may do the trick & be a suitable replacement.
