Recommend a lippie please

Post by Cupcake » Sun Nov 02, 2008 2:15 pm

Hi - I *adore* the Colour for a Cause lippies Monarch and Carpe Diem. I've only recently realised my skin undertones are yellowish rather than pinkish, so it's made me a bit colour-confused! I'm about 1:12 ish (maybe more) ratio, 12ish Ivory foundation to one scoop of colour mix (3 Buttery Yellow : 1 Ebony, roughly). Clear as mud...

So, I've never used a golden lippie before and have been dazzled by Monarch and Carpe Diem. I would *really* like another sheer, easy to wear lippie just like Monarch. I've thin wee lips, so pale glossy colours work best for me. Carpe Diem is my perfect 'dressed up' colour, whereas for everyday and easy-to-wear (read "not too worried about smudging"), Monarch is completely perfect and it just 'does something' to bring alive my wee pale pink lips and my whole complexion, miraculously.

Can you please recommend a suitable replacement? I'm too new here to know if begging Karen to make an equivalent replacement colour would work, but I am not above groveling if it'd help :D Thanks. -x-

The closest to Monarch is probably Gold Blush. It goes on as a sheer golden pink (meaning a pink with a golden shimmer).

Yes, yes, yes! You're so right, Jen!

Helena, that was a riot about grovelling, ROFL!

I've been using Monarch a LOT as a no-brainer color & it does have that effect of making thinner lips look more enticing.

Ooh now, Gold Blush looks lurvely! I had not yet considered that one. Thanks, that may be just the ticket 8-)

I do hope there can be more with such flattering golden (and coppery) shimmers. I appreciate these were very special to include real gold, but the artificial stuff will do me fine ;) if it replicates that sublime illuminating warmth.

Helena,

I've got Gold Blush and it is gorgeous & will definitely look lovely with your skintone. Really does require no thought whatsoever, but can be dressed up with a bit of lip liner for evenings if you like.

A great one for a lazy bones like me who can't be bothered with faffing but wants to look presentable!!

If you want something pinkier and girlier than gold blush, give Pout a whirl! It's lovely and goldie shimmery with a slightly more pink than gold blush. May be a good variation.
