Ughhhhhh tired of trying to find my right shade.......

I received my colors, sample kit the other day! Ohhhhhh I was so excited! I tried and tried and tried to find the RIGHT match and I think I came very close several times.....but I either came out looking too orange or too yellow and gray and ashy--even with moisturizer. I just couldn't get the right mix. I really did try......7 times I washed my face and reapplied with new color mix. My face grew tired and red with constant irritation from washing off etc...and reapplying---NOT from the product.

So.......needless to say, I give up.

But, with that said........................................

I LOVEEEEEEEEE everything else!!!! )))

I'm in LOVE with the perfecting glows, the silk powder, ALL the blush colors I ordered, the sample eye color I was given and the lippie color!!!!

WOW WOW WOW!!!!

If you are ever ready to try the foundation mixing again, we are here to help. Sometimes it just makes sense to step away from it for a while.

So pleased you love the rest of your loot!!! IMO it is awesome stuff. I have known Karen for a bit now, and she always seems to outdo herself!

My suggestion is only apply your test foundation to a small area. I did a spot on my cheek and neck. That will give you several testing sessions before you have to wash.

I have posted this before but I know the search tool is kind of frustrating so here is my opinion.

Take all of your foundation colors (ebony, peach, buttery gold, yellow gold) and swatch them on your jawline, undiluted, unmixed. Decide which ones blend with your skin tone and which ones fight with it.

Then, try to determine which one (or maybe two) looks MOST like your skin tone. Use this one (or two) as your base, and blend with ivory until you get it light enough. On my skin, ebony looks really close, but buttery gold kind of matches, too. So my mix is 11 ivory, 1 ebony, 1/4 buttery gold.

This is how Prescriptives does their custom-blended foundation (more or less) and I think it's an effective strategy.

It's kind of like mixing paint. It takes an artistic eye and some practice.

REALLY helpful suggestions! Zeebs, I think next time I get ready to mix a batch, I'm going to try that! Undiluted! In stripes, as Maryah said! Even after mixing for nearly a year now, trying a new process will be fun!
