Please Help Me w Foundation Color

Post by orchidsX » Mon Mar 03, 2014 6:02 pm

Hi!

QUESTION #1
I am new to Silk Naturals and ordered two sample starter kits. I would very much appreciate some guidance on how to find my shade. I have purchased a sample of the 'all purpose ivory' formula (I tend to have dry skin except in Tzone) but I am not quite sure which tinted base to add in order to find the right match for my skin tone. Can you please let me know what you think?

PERSONAL SKIN TONE INFO:
I have fair/light skin with a very slight golden undertone. However, I am of Irish decent and parts of my face are prone to redness (esp. nose and chin). While the formulation of 'bare minerals' did not work well for me, their color "fairly light' was a decent color match.
I've attached a picture which shows my (dead of winter) skin tone - perhaps this may be helpful.

Q#2:
Once I have found the correct tinted base / ratio, I was wondering if I substitute a small part of the Allpurpose Ivory with the Glow Ivory? Would this slightly reduce the heavy coverage of the all purpose and add some illumination?

Thanks! I very much look forward to hearing from you!

Hello and welcome!

I would try Buttery Gold or Olive. I know it sounds strange, but I definitely see some yellow tones in there, and Olive really is on the slightly warm side of neutral.

Olive 1 scoop color to about 12+ white.
Buttery Gold 1 scoop color to about 9+ white.

Yes, you dan definitely replace a few of the scoops of All Purpose in your recipe with Glow base for some illumination. The best part is that you can determine where that is for yourself. I am a 1:14 and I replace 2, but I like more of a semimatte look. Try around 4.

Hi Jen,

Thank you soooo much for your feedback and advice. I will definitely try buttery gold and olive - my samples should arrive this week and I am super excited to get started with Silk Naturals. Once I have figured out a color match, I will share my recipe.

Once I have my base worked out, I can't wait to try SN's UD naked dupes (specifically versions 1 and 3) and their chromatic cream eye shadows.

Given my dryish / combination skin (pretty dry everywhere except the nose and chin which is only slightly oily), do you recommend using a perfecting/finishing powder? If so, which one?

Thanks again and have a nice day.

Thank you sooo much for your advice / feedback! My samples arrived today, so I am about to play mad scientist. I hope I get it right!

Once I have a recipe, I will share it for reference.

I can't wait to try some of SN's eye shadows and other products as well.

Thanks again!!

You can use a finisher if you want, but it might not be necessary every day. Some of the Perfecting Powders are probably a good place to start.
