HELP A NEWBIE!!! Narrowing Down Eyeshadows In Cart?

Post by musicluffler » Sat Aug 10, 2013 10:45 pm

Hey guys!

I'm brand-new to Silk Naturals and excited to buy some back-to-school goodies, especially eyeshadow! I've been using all-natural makeup since I was 13 but this will be my first-ever purchase from this brand. Problem is, so many colors look sooo beautiful...and now I have a cart FULL of stuff! Technically I *could* buy everything I wanted, but I feel like I'm dealing with some duplicates here and it would be good to cut down a little.

Things I am 99% sure I'm getting:
Emerald - dark emerald green. Don't own anything like this and definitely want this one.
UD Naked Palette clones - so excited to own the natural version of the Naked palette! <3
Jane (lipstick)

Things I want to get:
Royal - matte cobalt blue. I already own a shimmer bright blue shadow, although this one seems to have a little more purple in it and I like the matte finish better.
Foxtrot - matte bright aqua. Again, I own a shimmer turquoise that's sort of duochrome-y, but I prefer when neon shades have a matte finish.
Mazel Tov - light shimmery gold. I LOVE this color and think it's the perfect gold, but I own a more sandy/light beige/champagne colored shimmer shadow and am definitely getting the UD Naked Palette full of shimmery things as well, so I'm wondering if it's too similar to any of those...
Bonanza - shimmery taupe. It's described as a silver but to me it definitely looks taupe. Again, worth it since I'm getting the Naked clone??

Then comes the whole 'looking for the perfect white inner corner highlighter' dilemma: I'm torn between 3 whites and have noooo idea which one to get. Or should I just get them all...? I have a hunch that I could cut out at least one, so if anyone owns these shades and has advice, that would be super helpful.

Frosty - glittery white.
Void - matte white.
Envoy - sort-of white?

I'll appreciate any and all advice and feedback :) For the record, I don't have any qualms about pulling off 'bold' or 'less wearable' colors, but in practice I am quite lazy/hasty to get my makeup done in the mornings, so I suspect I'll use the non-neutral colors far less often than the rest.

My favorite inner corner highlighters (and browbone highlighters) are Restless, Bristol and Goddess. They aren't stark white or high shimmer. They're very versatile. I use them for the inner corner and 2/3 of my lid and under the brow, with a medium tone sandwiched in the crease and on the outer 1/3 of my lid. They work with every color and finish I've ever used them with: taupes, greens, browns, mattes, suedes, pearls...

Have fun!

like shiny, i also prefer non-white highlighters, as white almost always looks a bit ashy on me. regardless, i think that the three you mentioned (void, envoy, frosty) are different enough to justify buying them all - that is if you are into white highlighters ;)
i can swatch void and envoy for you, but i don't own frosty. i never noticed it before, and now i want it!! so much shimmer!! :D

Don't forget for every $35 you spend including shipping you get a free shadow, you just have to write which one in the comments. So you may not need to narrow it down too much :)

I was having the same problem and the free e/s with $35 purchase really helped because I was able to just get 2 colors for free! Anyway, Bristol was already mentioned and I will have to agree, Bristol is a really great color to get. I personally love it as a wash of color on the lid but it would be great as a highlight as well! Enjoy whatever you end up picking :)
