The "my lips make no sense" thread.

Anyone else have a hard time buying lippies just based on swatches and other peoples' descriptions?

So far, there has been no rhyme or reason to what looks good and bad on me.

Things that are described as "sheer pink" show up as brick red to poo brown.

Things that are described as "coral" or "tan" show up as nude pink.

"Pink" shows up as peach.

"Peach" is an indescribable pop of "I'm wearing makeup" color.

The only colors that look the same between my face and arm are Betty and Winter Rose. (Which are lovely.)

Who feels my pain?

Sounds like you have very pigmented lips. I am guessing based on your descriptions, your lips are some sort of brown-peach color? If I were you, I'd try to figure out if I were warm or cool toned, and then buy a more pigmented lip color that has the same tone of your skin coloring. I would think that if you had peachy lips, you would be warm toned. But the lip colors that you say are true to color are more cool toned.... so I'd say try some more cool tones!

Another thing that could help is if you use foundation on your lips or a cream concealer.
