Hi ladies,
I'm looking to wear eyeshadow more often, but in the past a lot of the 'foolproof' or 'one colour wash' SN shades haven't worked on me because of a plum or red undertone. I also think shadows that are darker than my natural lid colour look worse, which is confusing.
I have very yellow skin (Buttery Gold from SN plus scoops of Yellow), black hair and dark brown eyes. Phantom is the only foolproof one I've tried - I can't usually wear pinks, but somehow it looks fresh and nice on me.
Ones that work:
Phantom
Ones that sorta work but could be more flattering:
Model
Clutch
Adorn
Ones that make me look tired:
Earth
Bailey
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm partial to eyelights and neutrals, and need more crease colours, but I'm up for anything new! Thanks.
Eyeshadow suggestions for yellow-toned skin!
Re: Eyeshadow suggestions for yellow-toned skin!
I have yellow toned skin also, however I have green eyes and light hair, and am very pale, so I am not sure that the same shades that works well for me will necessarily work well for you, but still thought I'd share.
I also find that a color needs to be my skin tone or lighter to really look well all over the lid for me. However, most colors are not this light. So what I like to do is use a light color in the inner corner and inner 1/3 to half of my lid, and then I can use a slightly darker color the rest of the way and it still looks good. Goddess is a nice pearly light color to use for this purpose.
I love Doubloons, it is a super pretty color. I also really like Blessings, which is a crease color for me.
And of course having yellow in my skin tone, colors that are golden and/or yellow look good also. I love the way the new cream shadow Tribeca look on me.
Hope some of that helps!

Re: Eyeshadow suggestions for yellow-toned skin!
I do the same thing as Oxana using a light color on the inner third and to highlight with the darker color in the outer corners. I also have a heavier brow so i usually take my crease colors up a little higher to avoid looking tired. Personally, I almost never wear blue or purple (though breathe is a fun purple i CAN wear) and I generally stick to a pretty warm color palette. My favorites are golds, oranges, browns, and warm pinks. Pastels in general are also easier to pull off.
My first "go-to" color combo was vanilla and quartzite and it's still a lovely combo.

My current everyday look is a base of tribeca and sunnyville topped with juiced and highbeam. I can wear any one of those colors all over, but i like to put the golden tone on the inside and the pinky peachy tone on the outside. I also frequently use highbeam as the light tone and use an orange or coppery brown on the outer corners.

There's really nothing on the Golds/Coppers shadow page that doesn't work for me. I definitely second doubloons. http://host.silknaturals.com/creb/produ ... 29&&page=1

Re: Eyeshadow suggestions for yellow-toned skin!
Like Oxana I have a very yellow toned skin (my foundation is "warm peach" in Lily Lolo make up), green eyes but my hair is darker than her.
I thought warm colors would be good on me, that's what I read on internet, but orange-peach eyeshadows just doesn't work (same thing for lipstick)! I have Adorn and even if it is pretty, it is not flattering on me, so even if Sunnyville looks beautiful I'n not sure it would be good for me. Surge makes me look ill, but some purple eyeshadows can be really beautiful (I like Wired and I have a gwp eyeshadow really closed to Aubergine) : I don't know why some of them look good and others don't work !
Doubloons is one of my favorites, with Faeries. I like Soho, too.

Re: Eyeshadow suggestions for yellow-toned skin!
I also like a gold eyeshadow on the inner eye--Homecoming Queen is my favorite. I also love High Beam as an all over color. For the outer edge, Loaded works well for me. Tailfeather is a nice light brown that I can actually wear on the lid. Sari is a super nice one color wash on me. I can't usually wear purples, either, but the purple tone that shows up with Sari is very nice and works well with my brown eyes and dark hair.

Re: Eyeshadow suggestions for yellow-toned skin!
I just received my order : I highly recommend Bonanza, it's an elegant color for fair yellow toned skins (but I'm pretty sure it would be beautiful for tanned skins as well).
Re: Eyeshadow suggestions for yellow-toned skin!
Thanks heaps for the replies, they were a huge help. I ended up ordering Doubloons, Homecoming Queen, and Conspiracy to try for now. They're gorgeous! Homecoming Queen in particular looks right up my alley. I also have Blessings, Goddess (looks very very pretty), Juiced, High Beam, Quartzite and more on my wishlist for when budget allows. I'll see how the first three go. Thanks again
