Hello Everyone!
I am new here (to the forum but have been using a few SN things for awhile now) I have been using Everyday Minerals foundation for about a year and don't have any problems with them but I think that I could find a better foundation match here (I hope) So To get started I have pretty fair/Light skin, I turn red and then tan I have brown hair and brown eyes, I wear Buff Fairly Light Neutral from EM (just in case you know what color that is) and if you need a picture then let me know I don't really mind to post one for a little bit. Also I am cool skin toned but have a little bit of olive or yellow undertones but still pink in there. I have pretty earthy color skin. Here I will post a picture for you to see..........
So Please help me pick out what foundation base I need!

Thanks -Tia

Hello iPunky!
I am familiar with the EDM line from a few years ago. If I recall, FLN was about the right depth for me, but it had too much 'earthtone' in it. I really think you will be somewhere between Ebony and Warm Gold for your color base. I would still sampe Buttery Gold. though. A blend of Buttery and Ebony might be right on, though, with your yellow. I am usually not a fan of messing with blending color bases, but I think one of those blends will be spot on.
What type of coverage are you seeking? We have three levels of coverage. The amount of color added does depend on the coverage level you chose: you need a little less Ivory when the coverge is heavier.
In your case, if you have some empty jars lying around, I would do a 1:1 mix of Warm Gold and Ebony, and a 1:1 mix of Buttery Gold and Ebony. (maybe put two scoops of each in a jar for each base mix.) Then you will need one scoop color base to about 7 or 8 Ivory, at least in that range depending on coverage so start at 6 and add more Ivory if needed. I know this may sound a little daunting at first, but since I pretty much know where you fall with EDM, this mix will be worth the effort.

Hi Jen,
Thanks for replying! So I need to put a scoop of ebony and a scoop of warm gold or a half a scoop ebony and a half a scoop of warm gold and then start with 6 scoops of ivory? Is that correct? Oh and do the same for ebony and buttery gold?, that is exactly what I was thinking would be my mix so I am relieved that you say that. I was afraid this would be harder than I thought.

If I buy one sample of ivory will that be enough for my testing?

I am so mad b/c I ordered buttery gold and didn't know I had to order the ivory too so I ended up throwing it away not knowing! LOL I wish that I would have kept it now! lol Anyways thanks Jen for your help!!! -Tia

Essentially what you are doing is a pre-mixed dark base to start and then using it to make your foundation trials. I will try to make clear directions for you. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask away.
In one small jar mix 1 scoop Ebony and 1 scoop Warm Gold. Call this your WarmE mix.
In another small jar mix 1 scoop Ebony and 1 scoop Buttery Gold. Call this your ButteryE mix.
Mix them both very well by shaking. I have you premix them like this, because it is hard to eyeball a half scoop.
For Foundation Trial 1, mix 1 scoop of the WarmE mix with about 6 or so Ivory.
For Foundation Trial 2, mix 1 scoop of the ButteryE mix with about the same amount of Ivory.
You now have two foundations that will be close in undertone, but you might need to adjust the depth by adding more Ivory.
I apologize for not making it more clear before. I tend to forget how confusing something like this is for someone who has not even tried to blend their foundation with one color base, yet. One Ivory sample will be enough to try both, but adding in another sample pouch of Ivory on its own isn't much in case you mess up (I am an overbuyer myself and try to get my money's worth out of my shipping.)
Happy Mixing!!!

Cool that helps a lot! That makes it a lot easier to mix! I am thinking that I am going to order the sample kit and then order some more ivory and some jars too. Just in case!

I am really excited about trying this out. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I don't have to mix bases but If I do I guess I can deal with it.

I will let you know when I get my stuff and try it. I might need some more help!
