I am looking for a sheer plum lip color to layer over other colors.
I currently use a gloss which I am hoping to replace with SN, will post a swatch tomorrow. It is basically a dark plum that is really sheer, and has no red or brown to it. I like to wear light pink lip colors, and the gloss it nice to layer over them to go from day to night.
I have tried things like Seedy and Berry Nice, but they both pull red on me.
I am now looking at Sweet Nothing and Black Dahlia, but am a little worried they will be too brown.
Any suggestions?

Re: sheer plum lip color
I would look at Bobbi or Provoke. Bobbi may be too neutral and Provoke may have more coverage than you like, but those look the most neutral plum to me. I think Sweet Nothing leans fairly brown. Black Dahlia is a sheer plum, but leans a hint reddish.

Thanks, I have tried both of those. I do love Provoke, but it is not really what I am looking for, for this layering purpose anyways, because like you said it is pigmented, and also it is too purple rather than dark plum.
I did some swatching and I think Seedy is quite close, with just the tiniest bit more red, but it could definiltley be considered a dupe. So I think I will try using it.
Does Black Dhalia have more red or less red than Seedy?

What about Electra? or Asset?
I don't think Black Dahlia will work as it is super pigmented, though maybe applying it over a soft pink would lighten it. It is a beautiful color if you don't have it, but i think it will be too dark/opaque to really do what you want.
I do really love seedy...

I do have both of those and really love them
I think just from swatching Seedy is the closest.
I didn't realize Black Dahlia was opaque, but it does sound neat, I should check it out.

Black Dahlia isn't totally opaque, but it's pigmented enough that i wouldn't call it sheer. I'm going through my stash today. Do you have Bella?

Re: sheer plum lip color
I do have Bella, it's really nice, I can't wear it straight up by itself because it makes me look frozen, lol. But I love it with other colors, since I tend to like cooler lippies, it's a great one for mixing with ones that are not cool enough for me

Hmm, how about Captivate, Engage or Eden? Or the cream blush Entice?
I sometimes mix up with the clear gloss Desert Plum or Carnal blush but haven't tried layering them on top of others.

Engage was fabulous not sure if it's what you are looking for.
Re: sheer plum lip color
Have you considered Razzle Dazzle? It's low shimmer, almost as sheer as Damsel and Seedy. Darker and more purple-pink than Damsel, maybe more "raspberry" than "plum", but there's no brown in it. I got some as a free sample and really like it.
