New colors tone

Post by Xarata » Tue Jan 29, 2013 9:45 pm

I love the look of the new colors (you know me, i love me some browns) but am concerned about how they will wear on me. I have trouble with taupes making me look tired. I'm really interested in Latent and Cameo most specifically. Also wondering if on a pale olive like me if grainy will come off looking "dirty". In general I just buy all the shadows, but past experience tells me taupes don't really work for me (neither do most blues and purples but the fact that they're "prrrreeeettttttyyyyy" gets the better of me everytime). Any pale gals in the office with commentary on the new colors?

As if you didn't already know (tehehehehehe): For reference, my "everyday" eye is highbeam contoured with honey sometimes with a touch of devilish or bittersweet. I wear malibu miss bronzer and sassy blush with a peach lip. In the winter, my skin is basically translucent, and in every company my best matches are "golden" or "olive" albeit in the lightest or second lightest shades.

I am in the same boat as you. I have similar coloring and look best in warm pinks, peaches, browns, olives, bronzes, coppers, and golds (Mojave es, Spoiler es, Hairpin es, Maybe Baby blush, Petal blush, Nectar lippie, Prelude lippie, etc). I am wondering about the new mattes as well, especially Cameo and Grainy. Sepia, Silhouette, Exposed, and Goddess look like they will work, but the other two I am not sure of.
Favorites

Blush: Abstract, Maybe Baby, and Poppy
Eyeshadows: Blanket Fort, Cult, Danny, Latte, and Moss
Lipsticks: All In, Asset, Eternal, Notion, and Syntax

Wow, you guys are describing my exact coloring and some of my all time favorite SN products! I ordered Exposed and Cameo (Grainy was not on the site when I placed my order, but I'm intrigued by that one too!). I went with Cameo over Latent since pink browns are usually a little more wearable for me than taupes. I love my neutrals, so I couldn't resist this collection! I'll update here when they arrive!

They've arrived and I've had a few days to play with them! The first day I wore a wash of Exposed with Cameo in the crease. I thought the combo made me look really tired. I then tried Exposed as a lid color with other shadows in the crease, and still wasn't really loving it. Part of it might be that I'm SUPER pale right now. It's a bit too dark for a lid color for me at the moment. It is really nice for blending out a crease color, though. I especially liked it with spoiler. There is some definite pink to Cameo (as stated in the description), so if you can't do pink around the eyes, this isn't for you. I think it's a better look for me when I have a bit of a tan. Today I'm wearing a wash of Shell and Cameo in the crease and I'm liking this look a lot better! Cameo is really similar to MAC Quarry, if you've ever tried that shadow. I think I'll find a lot of use for Cameo when paired with the right colors for me. I took some pictures that I'll upload once I figure out how!
