badly need skincare advice

Post by sanctuary » Fri Jul 20, 2012 12:57 am

Hello, first I'd like to tell problems I've had with my skin. It used to be normal to combination without serious problem. I just wanted to have better looking skin. Then, as recommended by a friend, I tried a treatment from a local beauty clinic in my home country and used their creams. My skin became so clean, clear, less dull, I didn't devote special care though. Everything was fine until last year when I moved to America. I could not go to the beauty clinic anymore so I stopped any creams and treatment. And my skin has experienced a never-ending breakout ever since. After a thorough inquiry, I found out that I had been exposed to prolonged improper use of steroid from those creams. Now my skin is, well, can't say it's good though, at least better than the first few months after stopping from those steroid creams. I still get some pimples now and then but they're less frequent now. The thing is that my skin is now very sensitive. It reacts to certain ingredients easily especially silicone. These summer days, I've stayed at home most of the time, and put nothing on my face, and it's just doing fine. When I go out for short trips or simply for grocery shopping, of course I have to put on some creams like sunscreen. But then as soon as I get home I always notice one or two bumps of acne. The next day when I put nothing again, those bumps recover by themselves. I just don't know what to do and how to treat my skin. I'm just tired of looking up every single ingredient of every skincare product I'm going to buy or use. I'm thinking that Silk Natural, being natural and organic, even some of the products are vegan, will do good for my skin.

Could you please help me find my regimen? In short my skin is sensitive, dehydrated and acne-prone. I'm Asian and 31 years old. I'm looking for skincare products that do not contain animal (no make up for now until my skin get really healthy :( ) Thank you sooooo much.

With love,

Unfortunately, you really can't ever stop reading ingredient lists if you have sensitive skin. Some of what you are experiencing can be from the products, your environment, what you consume, and hormones. In all honestly, we all go through phases with our skin where an ingredient is fine one day, and causes problems the next. Becoming comfortable with labels is a good thing, but sometimes it is not the ingredients themselves.

I am hesitant to recommend an entire routine, as products for those with sensitive skin should be introduced one or two at a time. Things that you should try at some point, Green Tea & Aloe Serum for hydration, eventually add something for treatment like Awesome Sauce. But I really would start with the basics of cleansing and moisturizing. I would try KISS cleanser, but remember that you only need the tiniest amount, which is why a great many of us who use that product use it in a foaming bottle. The best general moisturizer for your skintype is Hemp. You will be able to move on to something a little more complicated at tome point, but Hemp is a great starting point. I cannot stress enough that you need to start adding things in very slowly.

Thank you Jen, I already placed an order filled with those you are suggesting. Can't wait to get them arrived and give them a try. I'll let you know soon how they work out.

Oh yeah, could you email me when the Ultra Luxury Treatment Powder is in stock again? My friends have been giving review that this is amazing, I'm dying to try it ;)
