Proper care of make up brushes

Post by rfnandkcn » Sat Dec 10, 2011 5:33 pm

I have purchased the Kabuki brush, ultimate blush brush, eyeshadow crease brush and blending brush. I use them daily. My question is; what is the proper way to clean them to keep them in the best condition? Do I have to buy brush cleanser or can I use shampoo and water? How often should I clean them? I really love the brushes and want to take proper care of them. Thanks.

I usually recommend using your face cleaner (unless it is an oil). If not that try a mild soap. Shampoos might have silicones in them that might leave a weird film on the bristles. Go light on the soap as well as the water. Too much of either will start to break down the glue that is holding the brush together. Try to dry them with the bristles pointing downward. Brushes should be washed every one to two weeks.
