Makeup Setting Spray

Post by royalgoddessbeth » Sun Dec 04, 2011 6:56 pm

I caved and bought a small bottle of UD DeSlick. My T-Zone is less greasy than usual, but I don't like having to lay out money for prestige cosmetics, and I'd much rather buy something from you, even if this doesn't have parabens, sulfates, and stuff.

I'm pretty new when it comes to makeup setting sprays. My main concerns would be to help alleviate cakiness from powders, to refresh and hydrate skin during the day. I usually use plain filtered water in a spritz bottle, but that doesn't seem to be very effective. And hydrosols/floral waters are just way too expensive to get all the time (I use them up fast, and I haven't noticed any benefits). Have you tried the SN's spritz and toners? Based on reviews and forum discussion, the strawberry spritz sounds interesting (but I forgot to order a sample..ack! Next time). I can't do the lavender pH...lavender doesn't go well with my skin.

I've been using the pore refining toner as setting spray and I like what it does. Give it a try!

Oh, I've been using the pore refining toner since it came out for that purpose, but the results I achieved with the DeSlick were just too good. I only have to blot once a day with DeSlick, with the PRT, I usually blot four times. I'm that oily, at the ripe old age of 35. Not even supplementing it with the Oil Control Serum achieves what this does.

Hmmmm... I think that much oil means that your skin is dehydrated, so it's overprotecting with sebum? Or could be your diet? Try hydrating more, maybe that helps. I use the pore refining while I'm layering the serums and moisturizer, including oil control serum, then set it at the end (blow through a bottle really quickly, but worth it), and I can get away with not blotting for a while, or just spray some more on.

That setting spray does sound like a miracle though :)

I believe that hydrating the skin helps A LOT in reducing sebum production. I believe I know best since my sisters (even my mom! boohoo) used to call me "oil rig". :(
But since I discovered SN's serums, especially Oatmeal, my sebum is a lot less, and my skin glows more. Darnit. I should've listened to that crap since years ago.

I don't think it's any of the things you mentioned. I eat a healthy, balanced diet low in fat, high in fiber, and plenty of fruits and vegetables- and drink the fluids I'm supposed to drink.

My skin care routine consists of the following:

Morning
Pore Refining Toner
Oatmeal Serum and Super Serum mixed with Argan Oil (3 drops)
More Toner
Intensive Moisturizer followed by the Cucumber Eye Cream

Evening
OCM for makeup removal
Lavender pH Toner
Oatmeal Serum mixed with Awesome Sauce and 4 drops of Argan Oil
More Toner
Argan and Goji Berry Moisturizer followed by Cucumber Eye Cream

I exfoliate twice a week.

I feel like I'm already doing the right things as far as my skin is concerned. I spend a fair bit of change on Karen's products and don't scrimp on using it. It's just the way of things. I've always been oily, and I tend to look at the upside of that, the fact that it keeps me looking quite a bit younger.

I also use the Ultimate Luxury Powder as part of my makeup routine, and it's also a good skin treatment.

I have tried the Oil Control Serum on two different occasions for weeks at a time and felt that it didn't produce enough results for me.
