liner for hazel eyes

Post by Lalama » Thu Dec 01, 2011 8:14 am

Hi Ladies, So I have been using the same black eyeliner forever! I never tried lining with any other color eyeshadow because I couldn't use them. Today for the first time I decided to use Posse (I received it as a sample) to line my eyes and wow-big difference! So now I am thinking about a couple of darker shadows for liner. I have brown/green with a pinch of gold in my eyes (Burnette I wear 1olive 1/4 BG and 13 med ivory).
I'm thinking gatorgold? I would love some recommendations. :D

There are lots of options because hazel eyes really pop with vibrant colours. A few years ago, the increasing global popularity of Bollywood transformed the fashion for makeup and released the concept of coloured eyeliner into a whole new generation. Now anything goes!

Anything green, teal, purple or golden would look beautiful. One of the joys of minerals is that many of the eyeshadows can be used as eyeliner, so you can play to your heart's content. Just try using a liner brush (I like the angled liner) and slightly damped it - not dripping wet - and dab into minerals. Then dab a line onto the lid. (You probably know the "how to", I just add it incase anyone who reads this doesn't know).

Maybe look at Thea's two newest liner colours, Aurora and Black Ice as they're based on black so it'll be comfortable and familiar for you but they'll also introduce a flash of colour. Some ideas off the top of my head, try Aubergine, Velvet, Bewitched and Prowl for flattering purples, Poly, Kingfisher or Aloha for lively teal greens, maybe Emerald and Sapphire for more classic gem tones. In truth, you can use just about anything to line.

Be aware, the more sparkly and shimmery it is, the less well it sticks and those are more likely to work well if you use Stick 'Em Eyeshadow Base as a 'glue'. (Dab a little in an invisible line along the lash line, then with another dry brush, dab the shadow onto it so that it sticks. Can practice on the back of your hand!). Less shimmery ones stick well enough and last well if 'foiled', that is, applied with just a dampened brush.

My eyes are green/hazel and my favourite eyeshadow to use as liner is Prowl. It's technically brown but the least plain brown ever :) the warm purple-red tones really bring out the green of my eyes. Also Prowl is amazing as a crease colour or on the outer-v, it's so versatile. I've discovered that the redder purples are a lot more flattering for my eye colour than the bluer purples.

I don't have Posse myself so I don't know how it compares, but if you want something on that side of the spectrum you could try Nighthawk. Ok, it's not really green... it's black with a gold shine but I find it has a little hint of green (as it's not a yellowy gold).

My newest discovery is Demon, it looks great with my eye colour as well. I just roughly line my eyes with black pencil for a more subtle red glimmer (and so I can skip putting on a base when I don't feel like it ;) ).

Thank you Cupcake and Zus for your recommendations and eyeliner adivice-will put that to good use! I just moved prowl and kingfisher to the wishlist and then I have to narrow down which green I want-there are so many great colors, it's so hard to choose! ;) It's funny because, had I not received a couple eye shadow samples-I would have never thought to try some of the colors I'm looking at.

On a side note-three different people commented on how healthy and radiant my skin looked and one asked if I changed my diet- a small serving of SN foundation and eyeshadow
Love this makeup!

I have hazel eyes and use brown, blue, purple, and green liners along with black. A lot of times I will use the same color as a crease and liner color. Enjoy all the new color choices you have now. :D
