Can I mix serum with actives?

Post by frckls » Thu Nov 24, 2011 2:18 am

Okay. Call me crazy, but I started to think if I can mix Niacinamide powder with Awesome Sauce. I know that it's hard to stabilize Niacinamide with acid (Vit C), but I'm just curious if that's possible.

I'm jealous with my sister's result using Super Serum, but I need my Awesome Sauce for all the smokings I do and burying myself with books from light to dark in the university library. Add it with going out late afterwards and morning classes, I think you get the idea how my skin has been crying for help.

I really would not go mixing things into a serum. Usually, if it is not in there, there is a reason, and I am betting it might have to do with the other ingredients in Awesome Sauce..... There might be some stability issues. Can you use Super Serum? What about Super Serum as your morning serum and Awesome Sauce as your night serum?

Thx Jen for the reply. Well, I thought so. I also thought there must be a reason the Niacinamide not included immediately to the mix. Oh well, never hurt to ask.

The problem is, it's already hard to finish one bottle of serum. My Oatmeal is still two-third full since July, and my Awesome Sauce is still one-third full since August. Adding another will just make them go rancid before I can use them up.

You can also layer them nicely. I've done that a few times. Niacinamide is tricky to work with, and there isn't enough preservative in Awesome Sauce to handle any additional additives over the long-haul.

So that's why the Super Awesome suggestion didn't come through! LOL! Well I've suspected it. I did some layering but Jen said it will be kinda overkill so I don't want to overdo it. My sister's skin looks awesome right now, I'm totally jealous! (Although my own skin is now a hell lot better than it was when I just started off with SN serums 6-months ago)

Another question. What is the possibility of adding some Niacinamide and NAG to Oatmeal Serum??
