swirly bowl
Oh, how I would LOVE a nice big (maybe a cup size) swirly bowl with a rounded bottom to use to mix and play with my SN. I like to put the foundation and finishing powder into a bigger lid to swirl the brush in, that way I don't hurt the brushes on the edges of the lids.
Anyone? Thoughts?

I use a small ramekin for this, when I'm fininshed I can wipe it out with my microfiber cloth, and use it to sprinkle my blush in, then wipe out again and it is ready to go for another time. I know that some use ashtrays, etc. Personally, while I like the idea of a swirly bowl, I prefer to use either porcelin or glass over plastic, as eventually the minerals start to coat the plastic. or at least that has always been my experience.

I have seen versions of what I use at several places that carry housewares. It would be hard for Karen to source something like this because they are available in kitchen stores everywhere and they are not easily shipped. I have seen them at big discount stores, too. I got mine at Target. Look for something called a condiment cup/bowl or a mini bowl with a rounded bottom. They come in stainless steel, porcelain, and melamine. I would be surprised if it cost much more than a dollar or two.

I use an ultra fancy one...a disposable tall party cup. The minerals do stick to the plastic- and that's what I like- no dust!

I use a small stainless steel bowl I got in a pair from the dollar store, I am far to clumsy to use something breakable.

These candle holders from Aveda are just the thing!

The candle costs $19 but once you burn it up you'll have a perfect bowl for your SN makeup!

You guys crack me up! I never thought I would get so many replies to this one!!! Karen, yours especially...would that be the regular old dixie variety??? Too funny. My next click is to check out the Aveda one, I've gotta see this (for $19)...I thought I was bad with my makeup spending habit. My next addiction is going to be cheaper, like crack.

You're too funny! Sad thing is, it's probably true- I can blow through a mortgage payment in about 15 minutes at the MAC counter when I'm buying colors to clone. But I have lots of sparkley colors, and most of my own teeth so I guess that's a good trade off.
I believe it's a Solo brand pint cup- the kind that frat boys drink beer out of (or they did back in my day).

Yeah, I'm down with the whole 'I've still got my own teeth' thing. On a bad day when I don't have money to spend on makeup I can always turn to that. I always say my makeup drawer is the prettiest furnishing I have in my whole house -- sparkley and shiney and girly -- so it's money well spent.

A few suggestions for the next time you shop at a walmart, kmart, target, macys, or dollartree:
-For a shallow version, look for a porcelain "monkey dish" (it's what they serve coleslaw and applesauce in at restaurants)
-A rice bowl (usually a perfectly round dish for serving a side of rice with asian dishes) or salad bowls which are usually about 6" diameter
-Condiment bowls look about perfect and I know they sell pyrex ones in the dollartree in packs of 2-3.
