Recipe for EDM Linen clone?
Recipe for EDM Linen clone?
Hi guys, I am new to SN and new to the forum. I got my sampler kit today and I'm really scared. I really have no idea what base I need to use to get the right colour for me. I have been using EDM Linen for some time and was really happy with the colour (the trouble I was having was with the finish and oil-absorption properties of the EDM formulas). Can any ex-Linen user or experienced SNer help with recipe suggestions for me? Linen is a neutral fair with a touch of olive, from memory. Thanks in advance.
Re: Recipe for EDM Linen clone?
I don't have a good reference for Linen, but I am guessing you need to try Olive and Ebony. It will likely be a blend of the two. My guess... 1Olive:1Ebony:about 20 white.

Re: Recipe for EDM Linen clone?
Thanks so much Jen. I tried that mix and it is quite a good match really. I think it looks a bit muddy and a bit flat and I'm not sure what to do about it. In the jar it looks quite chalky compared to the EDM Linen. Any more suggestions?
Re: Recipe for EDM Linen clone?
Thanks so much for the reply. I tried the suggested mix and it was OK but looked a little muddy/flat. I wasn't sure what to do to fix it so I started again with 1 part olive and 1 part ivory and this seems much better. I will wear it today and see how it goes. Also, compared with the EDM linen the SN mix appears chalkier in the jar. Is this to be expected?
Re: Recipe for EDM Linen clone?
You definitely have to try it on to know if it needs adjusting. It is likely that you will not get a side by side jar match....the ingredients are slightly different.

Re: Recipe for EDM Linen clone?
Wow. This has been a lot of fun. Thanks for your input Jen. I have spent a lot of time playing around this weekend. I guess I am not really good at picking my skin tone, because after trying ebony, olive and buttery yellow I eventually tried warm gold. I was originally put off this base because the description says it is good for tanned women. Well I am not tanned, but I think it is my colour! The deciding factor was that the warm gold mix almost disappeared into my skin. Also, I found I needed more ivory in the mix that I was previously putting in. It might look chalky at first, but I found the colour adjusts as it settles into your skin. And yes, the mixes do look strange in the containers. My acne seems to have improved and my husband said my face "looked nice." This has been a very fun and illuminating experience for me. Do many pale girls out there use warm gold?
Re: Recipe for EDM Linen clone?
I think they are many fair gals that use Warm Gold. It is the base for gals having the 'peaches & cream' colored skin. My sister is one. I am trying to think in the old Color Me Beautiful terms of the 80s....it would be a Fall or Spring.
