Purchasing for the 1st time, I need help picking out colors.

Post by krabby57 » Sat Jan 29, 2011 7:52 pm

I am going to finally going to purchase items after looking at everything for about a month or so. There is so much to pick from!!! I just need some advise to help me pick things. I love neutral e/s with bolder eyeliner but I can't narrow it down to 5 e/s. I don't like real shimmery e/s-getting too old for that-LOL!!! Also what does everyone like in loose powders-I'm still trying to find my HG!!! Thanks so much!!!

I suggest the suede-finish shadows then (Earth, Harris, Regent, York, Bailey, Berwick, Bristol), because a lot of ladies who feel they're getting too old for shimmer seem to love these shades, plus everyone seems to say that the suede finish is great for more "mature" eyes. I haven't tried all of them, but I have tried some, and had a 50% success rate... two of them work for me (Berwick and Harris) and two of them completely sank into my skin and disappeared (Bailey and Bristol), but you never really know until you try them.

I love doing the neutral eye with bold eyeliner look too. My eyes aren't mature but shimmer eye shadows are a big no no for me. It makes me look too overdone. I do however love Papyrus eye shadow for a beautiful sheen in the tear duct area. You can use it as a lid color. And the Suede Finish eye shadows are beautiful especially Bailey and Bristol. The Mixed Metal Palette (http://host.silknaturals.com/creb/mixed ... p-971.html), Elegant Brown Quad (http://host.silknaturals.com/creb/elega ... p-535.html) and Stonewashed Palette (http://host.silknaturals.com/creb/stone ... p-109.html) contain very nice neutral eye shadows that are not shimmery but still interesting. You can buy all of the eye shadows in the palettes individually. I just posted the sets because they are easier to view. HTH!

Bailey and Vineyard are the closest thing to universally flattering IMO. I also like Dolce and Prowl as versatile colors though they may or may not qualify as "nonshimmery". That new Naked dupe palette looks amazing too!

Another vote here for the shadows with the suede finish. Remember you also get to pick a free shadow with every $30 you spend. Just put your choice in the comment box when you place your order. Have fun shopping. I love sn shadows.

I love the Naked Palette and usually wear some combination from it almost every day. While there is some shimmer to it, they aren't so shimmery as to be over the top on my 54 year old eyes. I also like Bristol, Paprus, Purr, and Earth. I recently gor Godiva, and it has a little more shimmer to it, but again is not over the top.

you got a lot of great advice on eyeshadows, so I won't go there. You asked about loose powders.....I am 48, and the Sheer Zinc powder is my godsend!
I use it as a primer every single day....it makes my skin smooth and poreless, has sunscreen, and keeps my forehead *oilies* at bay. A lot of us more *mature* gals swear by it!
