How do you store your eyeshadows?

Post by happyhiker » Tue Dec 07, 2010 6:11 pm

I have my SN makeup in a great pink train case right now but I have run out of room for eyeshadow, especially since I placed my order with the new collection. My train case is no longer going to hold all my makeup (funny, because truth be told, I really don't wear too much). I remember someone from the EDM forum put little magnets on the lids and put hers on a magnetic board so she could see them all. I like the idea of being able to see them so easily, but I have no room for anything like that...we have a small bathroom.

Any suggestions?

You could use the wall to hang up the magnetic board? I saw others putting the shadows on their side in plastic stackable drawers too.

I used to try and press all my shadows, so it takes way less room in the palettes, but i gave up on it, so I'm trying to reorganize everything.
I may end up with the magnet idea myself.

I can't find any pictures more recent than april. All of my GWP shadows are on their own board now... All of these were in my bathroom/ bathroom closets

Do you have a piece of velcro on the lippies?

Samantha,

Those are the pictures I admired so much! I love the idea of being able to see all of my eye shadows so easily (I can't always distinguish shades well enough when they're on their side). I have thought about doing something like this but I just can't imagine where I could possibly put it. Hmmm....

This was the most recent one taken in the summer. It's the top 2 shelves of my bathroom closet. The shelves are about a foot deep and 3 feet wide. I also use the closet door. The blue magnet boards are i think 1foot square. To give you an idea of how much makeup that is- it's every SN eyeshadow and every lipbalm available for purchase and then some as well as all the GWP up to the date taken (they've multiplied by about half). Counting just the SN jars, it looks to be around 270 eyeshadows including GWP... The white board holds blush/face colors and contains every SN blush in at least sample size from 2007 onward (at the time, let's say somewhere between 30-50).

The pink board on the top shelf is all non-SN makeup.
taken in june. I'm about to outgrow all of these boards with the new collection

Assuming your collection isnt half as huge as mine, i'm sure you'll find a home for it. ;) best of luck

*Should you go the marker board route, some helpful tips:
-The square boards are approximately 1 foot square, purchased at walmart, and hold roughly 49 shadows
-buy decent magnets with good adhesive, occasionally one will come unstuck and i replace the magnet- i don't just stick it back on.
-You may find it helpful to peel off the labels and stick them to the outside of the magnet. However, that can be a pain in the butt, so you might just make new labels, or learn to identify them on sight.
-I don't recommend magneting really big jars. I have had foundation boards with 30g jars on them, but they tend to weigh more and fall off more often. It can be done, i just don't really recommend it. I had to have the moment of being honest with myself about how much foundation one really needs to have out at one time.
