Colors similar to Truly?

Post by kinjali22 » Mon Dec 06, 2010 10:41 pm

I absolutely love Truly. It gives my face some much needed color and does not make me look washed out. At the same time it is not bold which I love (Verve was too bold for me). What colors would you recommend that are similar to it? For reference, I am about 1-8 olive and have mauve lips. I can't do dark or bold colors. TIA!

Have you tried Bitten, Foreplay, Mirabelle? Also, Razzle Dazzle is close, but a cooler, more mauve shade of pink.

Bitten is slightly redder, and and the pink in Mirabelle is not as intense. Then Foreplay leans even a tad more peachy than Mirabelle.

Thanks Jen :) I've tried Bitten but it was on the cool side for me. I don't think I've tried Mirabelle yet but I have tried Foreplay and it was a tad to peach one me. I don't do peach colors well either :P

Sounds like the new Peachy Keen may be perfect for what you're looking for?

Yea, I'll be giving peachy keen a try :) Lola is calling my name too... it looks like it would work. Is this color on the warmer side? Decisions decisions... :)

I'm neutral toned and can wear both cool and warm, so I'm not really paying attention, hehe. But, peachy keen has a reddish orange color to it, very sheer (just got it today, love it, lights up my face). Compared to truly, it's more sheer, and come to think of it, a bit warmer and definitely not as bright.

Lola is a burgundy strawberry red color, so it definitely has warm tones. I think wine is such a universal color though, would work on any skin tone.

Hope that helps!

Thank you for those descriptions egerandi! Ok, I am definitely getting Peachy Keen. I love colors that brighten up my face. For some reason Truly wasn't that bright on me.. and that is probably because my lips are dark. Hmmm... I think I'll pass on Lola right now... I tend to like brighter sheer colors. The deeper colors kind of wash me out for some reason. Thank u! I also added Genuine into my cart :)

Btw, what do you think about Fashionista? It looks like a brighter nude pink with no brown in it. Is that close description ?

Well, on my lips is more like a muted mauve: not pink and not brown, but not bright either.
I love it for the coverage it gives, and if I could only keep (hahaha, if that's even possible) one mauve/wine/plum color, that would be it.
