Orange Color Corrector

Post by kinjali22 » Tue Oct 05, 2010 10:57 pm

I have a wish for an orange color corrector. I think I've finally figured out why regular concelears don't work for me. It always seems like they are too sheer or not heavy enough to cover my dark circles.. the darkness always seem to 'seep' through. My dark circles are under my eye and above it... like I'm wearing e/s.

I did some reading and found that darker/olive skin tones need orange based correctors to prevent the darker tones from seeping through. Once the area is prepped with the orange corrector, regular concelear can be applied on top. NYX Cosmetics and a smaller cosmetics company Khuraira have orange correctors - http://www.nyxcosmetics.com/index.php?pf=CJ and http://www.khuraira.com/proddet.php?cat ... did=H00001#. This blog has the Khuraria corrector swatched (hope its ok to include it here) - http://anindiansmakeupmusings.blogspot. ... /Concealer.

I'm not sure how difficult it is to make this but I would be so greatful if it is possible. Maybe I can finally start wearing dark e/s :)

Ohhhhh, how interesting Kinjali22! I need orange color corrector for my foundation since I need peach, but not the red/brown peach SN's foundation base makes (too much brown!), so I use the yellow color corrector and SN's Palace blush (the NARS Taj Mahal dupe) to make it. The two create the perfect match for the tones in my skin without making my complexion look dull/muddy...

I'm not sure this would work, but if you use a powder concealer maybe you could try boosting the blend with Palace until Karen has one made?? I might try this myself at some point, when I'm back to wearing powders around my eyes. A cream corrector would be great though!

Thanks for the info superwahz! Ya I was thinking of a cream concealer too.

I love the look of the Khuraira concealer. It's almost like a deep orange? I'm bad at describing colors but that's why I included the blog post with the swatch :) It applies pretty sheer too so that would be really cool if you could use it as a primer before your foundation mix!

I remember seeing your post a while back about using Palace. Thank you for suggesting that mix! I would have never ever thought of it. I do have the yellow powder concealer but not Palace. I'll need to add it to my next order. I'm super tan so I know I'm going to need A LOT of Palace... I'm wondering if it'll make my eye area too sparkly?

Poppy and Nuance are matte.....but they are not as orange as Palace. They might work, too.

I just wanted to pop in and say thank you for posting this! I was making the tan concealer, and it occurred to me that maybe our cream concealer base isn't quite right for deeper skin tones...so putting me on this train of thought is fantastic! It's a formula project, so it takes a bit more work than just tinting one of the bases I already have made, but I wanted to let you know it's on my radar, and on the list. I really appreciate your thoughts!

Oh wow..thanks kinjali22 for bringing this topic up. I've been wearing my eye glasses out more often instead of contacts because they are my only method for covering dark circles and under eye bags. I never heard of straight-up orange concealer for dark circles. That makes sense since orange is complimentary to blue on color wheel. I've tried different shades of yellow, beige, and peach concealers (creamy and powder formulas) and none of them show any satisfactory results alone. Like you said..the dark circle just seeps through. I have pale olive skin, but from what I'm seeing, orange concealer seems to work on any skin tone as an under eye primer (when applied correctly).

I would try NYX concealer in a jar, but the ingredients list mineral oil, butylparaben and fragrance. But superwahz suggestion about using Palace blush sounds pretty good. I'll try mixing a bit with a wand concealer I have.

I do hope there is an easy and fast to wear orange corrector in the future because other concealer colors just aren't effective for my ridiculously dark zombie under eyes. In the meantime, I'll experiment with orange blushes. I've read elsewhere that few even use orange lipstick to mix with their foundation or cream concealer..I don't think I'd go that far since I have to be careful with what I put on my face, but that does sounds cool for those with less sensitive skin. Man, I do love reading about innovative ways to cover the cursed dark circles.

I'm happy the post was able to help you Lemon! I had a eureka moment too reading the blog post... it opened my eyes to why concelears have never worked for me and why I need to go like 3 shades down in concelear shades in trying to cover it.

Karen said she will make it, though it will be a while since its a formulation project. I can't wait!! :D
