Reccomend a highlighter for my skin, please

Post by Shirin » Sun Oct 31, 2010 6:26 pm

I havent found my highlighter yet. I want it to be pearly and/or sheer, not too shimmery, more like Bristol and Mahalo in texture. Bristol is too tan or pink on me? With Teacher's PEt anyway. Mahalo too much of color! But Vanilla was too white, besides being too shimmery. I have darker olive skin, real olive with no golden undertone at all. (I thought Sonic but saw it described as very shimmery and very yellow which put me off, also papyrus and Sprite and so won't do becasue of teh same problem). Was thinking maybe Mojave, but I need sthg to go with Teacher Pet, Dark Arts, Earth, Tailfeather, the latter two are only on my wishlist yet. I think Envoy might be too light on my skin colorwise I mean!?

Please help.

The first thing that came to mind was Boom, or maybe Bare. Then perhaps Homecoming Queen. I'm not sure if they'd have the right tone for your skin though but they're the only ones I could think of. I'm not good at picking colours for olive skin. I think Envoy would be too light though, it's very white and sheeny. (pretty though)

Thanks Cupcake :D , I added Bare on my wishlist. The darker champagne one, looks like my skin tone in shade intensity, and i think frosty looks good on olive skin, read it somewhere once.

I recommend Honey or Homecoming Queen (Honey has less shimmer) HTH :D

I think homecoming queen would be nice too. If it is a little too light, you could add some of your foundation base colour to darken it slightly so you don't get the freaky ghost eyes look ;)

Boom. Or consider Splendid or one of the other perfecting glows, maybe?

I am not using any foundation at thé moment, waiting for m'y tinted moisturizer. Homcoming queen might be too pink for me. I tried a sample of hint and pink twink, and they looked gross on me, i réalise i should stay away from pink and purple. also i havé hooded and deep SET eyes i think, so it's a nô nô to shimmer:-(. Doing m'y eyes is a new challenge really!
Do you think Bare is shimmery( it says frosty/ Metallic)??

I think Bare may be a bit too shimmery for you based on what you describe. I'm with Zeebs on this: you may want to try highlighting with the perfecting glows like Splendid or even Liberty. I use Crystal and Liberty for brow bone highlight a lot, when I'm going for an easy look. They give a nice little extra attention, but not over the top shimmer.

BTW, I see no pink in Homecoming Queen at all, so I think it would work for you nicely :)

I agree with them both, a perfecting glow might suit you better, the shimmer is finer in them, less sparkly, but still reflects light! Liberty is a beautiful pale gold, not a speck of pink in it! Splendid is neutral to warm as well... And Egerandi is right, Homecoming Queen is not pink! It is a bit shimmery though. Very flattering, but if you worry about shimmer, you might want to skip the eye shadows and stick with the Perfecting Glows. The little sample jars will give you plenty to experiment with! ;)

That sounds promising :) , samples of both Splendid and Liberty are on my wishlist now. Also Bailey and Tailfeather. I think Bailey shouldn't have much shimmer. Tailfather seems to have some good amount of it but I can't fresist the color, looks awesome.
