foundations. please some questions.
Hi there!
I loveeeeee Karen's foundation. but I didn't understand somthing.
I have a warm- yellow medium skin. I tried to mix the warm with buttery with the base and I've got a color that if i apply it in my face its gray. why?
how can I cancle the gray color on my face?
how do you mix your foundation? how long? because I can't have any luck with that.
one more question. can I use in the date bait powder as a primer too?
thank you so much!

Re: foundations. please some questions.
Date Bait can be used as a primer. There really are no 'rules' about how any of the powders must be used. Experiment to find what works for you. I usually use the Perfecting Powder as a primer.
For the foundation- If it seems gray, it is one of two things. It needs to be mixed more, or you need more of the color base. I would start with the mixing. The jar really needs to be shaken for about 5 minutes to make sure it is all the way mixed. If it is still too gray, you will need a little more color base.
Can you tell me what you have tried so far? Which finish are you trying and how many scoops of each?

Re: foundations. please some questions.
this is the same thing that happened to me when i tried out foundation samples. interestingly enough i was also mixing the warm with the buttery base (it was so long ago i can't remember the ratios. i think it was mostly buttery with just a touch of warm). i got the right color depth but it was just gray-tinged when i compared it to my other mineral foundation.
i'll probably go back and try jen's recommendation just out of curiosity to mix it up better because i know i didn't shake the thing for 5 minutes, LOL
--but i did shake it good and hard for at least 2 minutes and it looked uniform. however i prefer foundation that isn't matte so i most likely won't end up using it much--but i do so like the idea of being able to mix your own color.

I think I didn't shake the jar 5 minutes! omg! I didn't know that.. I think I will buy a grinder to shake the minerals.
but if I add more base color its will be too light , right?
maybe I need some peach? with the 2 other colors?
I hope you will help me with that.. because I really love Karen's foundations.
btw.. the smail is great!

Samakosem-
You also might need more color base (the Warm Gold, Buttery Gold, etc.) , instead of the white. Now that I know who you are, I really think you are a Warm Gold!!!!! A small grinder will help mix the powders better, but is not required. Are you mixing in a jar? Some girls mix in small zip baggies (measure the powders into the bag, and then 'moosh' the baggie around).

Re: foundations. please some questions.
I have used small sample baggies. The ones I buy for mixing from the craft store are 3 inches by 4 inches. I have also used a 'snack bag' size. It is about half the size of a zippered sandwich bag. Do they have zippered baggies like that where you are?

Re: foundations. please some questions.
Simi, do you have an old baggie from a makeup sample you could use? If not, just shake the jar more. Don't put the sifter in it yet, just put the top on the jar and shake some more.
I think you're a warm gold, too.
Strangely, they don't have those kind of baggies here anymore, either, or if they do I haven't seen them in ages. They're supposedly a ziplock, but it's two yellow strips that run across the top of the baggie and a little red square 'zipper'. Don't know what's up with that, but I wouldn't put powders in them to shake. I liked the old ziplocks better.
