Yellow Booster vs Yellow Sleep in a Jar

Post by Die Marchen » Thu Sep 02, 2010 9:28 am

Yellow SIAJ sample didn't work for me until the day I decided to add it to my foundation experiment and the result was great. I also added some Liberty.
And Beach Bunny to be exact...
Now I'm wondering would Yellow booster give the same effect? (Course I need less of it) Or it shall give very strong plain yellow tone? What do you think of it? Has anyone compared them?
Current ratio, Sept. 13: 1 Ebony : 1 Buttery Gold : 15 All Purpose : 5 Ivory : 2 Yellow : 1 Liberty : 1 Beach Bunny
The mix is pale and does't look yellow

Interesting, I kind of did the same thing with "Sunlight" yellow concealer/corrector from another company a while back...

I'm afraid I can't answer your questino as I have yet to try any of the boosters - I am debating whether to go with Olive foundation and Yellow booster or BG foundation and Green booster. I have this strange yellow-green skin with very little brown and zero pink, but also very thin skin with some sun damage which means that my face easily looks red. My latest foundation mix was like that in my signature but the other way around; mostly BG with a little bit of olive, since I tend to look more yellow in summer. I'm still not sure which one is better. Maybe I'll skip foundation altogether and only use Unblush and Tempt Tryst! Alas, I do like me some foundation from time to time...

Anyway, that's my long-winded way of saying that I don't think SIAJ + Beach Bunny should be that different from BG. Which, I realize, is not at all what you asked. What foundation color *do* you use by the way?

I think the yellows in the two products are similar. Yellow Booster is more intense than yellow Sleep in a Jar so you will need less of it, and perhaps more white base.

I've used yellow SIAJ to add yellow to my foundation blend before. Jen is right, it is more diluted than the Yellow Booster, so you need more of it to get the effect you're looking for. Now I use yellow booster, much easier!

They look like the same yellow tone, kind of a clear, pure yellow instead of the golden yellow in some of the foundation bases... Plus, the Yellow Booster is more bang for your buck, since it's more concentrated and cheaper! It comes in a small baggie, but a few scoops is all you need to add to a jar of foundation, so it lasts for a long time.

Annika- To me, the yellow in BG is a little bit different than the yellow from the yellow booster. It could be just me, but the BG yellow looks a tad more mustard? But who knows, the green may balance that?!

The SN blend I'm playing with right now is pretty much yellow booster and Palace, with a touch of Olive added in to help offset the whitish cast of the ivory base since it is the least "brown" looking on my face. My skin is yellow/peach with almost no beige/brown in it, and thin, so its prone to looking red though my skin tone isn't pink at all! I also have sun damage so need more coverage than just a perfecting powder gives...makes things a little challenging, eh?! Foundation matching is always such an adventure... :P

Are you talking about me?)))))

Currently I'm using a weird mix - I mixed all the experimental mixes that didn't suit me together and then started adding ivory, liberty, Beach bunny, Sleep in a jar yellow to make a wearable foundation - didn't want to waste even a micro amount of powder)))
This mix is almost over along with my summer tan. This august was awful - we've had fires (we still have but less) and abnormal temperature so I was taking shower 5 times per day, sweating and scrubbing face from black dirt. I was wiping face more often and now I have pale face and yellow shoulders)
Some days I can wear only perf powder and liberty or TThryst (can't decide which one I prefer) with BBunny as a blush.

I was going to try your foundation :-)

What I mentioned is more yellow I add more healthy I look)))

Btw my shoulders are yellow and my decollete is green))) And my face has reddness) Freaky picture))

I was thinking about green (and maybe I end up trying this too) but I'll start with yellow booster)

I agree about mustard))) I have the same feeling)
