Emu moisturizer smell

Post by Oryx » Sat Aug 07, 2010 3:50 am

At the beginning of July, I bought 2 full sized bottles of the emu moisturizer and put them into the fridge when I received them, until I finished my first full sized bottle. That first bottle and my earlier sample had no smell that I could pick out. Today, I started using one of the new bottles and discovered that it smells like castor oil :?. So I opened the other one which was still in the fridge and that also smells!

Has SN recently started using a different type of emu oil, or has my 2 bottles gone bad? They shouldn't have since I used my first bottle for nearly 2 months and nothing happened to it. I am kind of worried about using the new ones now, since I don't know if it's become rancid or whether it will cause skin irritations/breakouts (my skin is reactive that sometimes my own sweat irritates it). The smell does go away but it isn't very pleasant when I am applying it.

Has anyone using the emu moisturizer run into the same problem?

In my experience, Emu does have a smell to it. I would really email customer service. I don't have enough info to fully answer this one.

Emu can have a bit of a smell...we rotate the stock of it very regularly so it shouldn't have gone rancid, but between bottles there can be a difference.

If it's normal then I'll keep using it and just hold my breath while applying. Thanks for your replies, Jen & Karen!
