Mixed colors...

Post by hotmama » Tue Jul 15, 2008 3:30 pm

Hey ladies! Ive been really busy the past few weeks. Just really tired. But while cleaning my bathroom I threw (very gently) all my SN eyeshadows into a basket.. And mornings I'm running late (every for the past 2 weeks) I just grab 2-3 shadows and make it work! But I really haven't come up with anything less than beautiful! I may be late for work and on edge with the kids running wild, but my eyes have been great. Yesterday, I wore wink wink over lid, dolce (which is officially my holy grail) in crease and saphire as liner upper and lower. It sounds TERRIBLE, but trust me it was BEAUTIFUL!!! Today, my lucky grabs were siren glow all over lid a little on lower lash line, naughty in crease and basalt wet lined upper and lower. Its just so nice. I've also been using clear cream liner on lid as a primer and I've really been satisfied. I don't see myself using anything else to prime my lids. SN is the best shadow Ive used. You really cant go wrong, it just depends on how adventurous you want to be. Please try Saphire as a liner. It really is beautiful.

I totally agree!!! Dolce is my favorite shadow of all time!!! And wearing the clear creme liner as a lid primer has been working like a charm for me as well!!! Your combos sound gorgeous!! :)

I have a basket of SN eye shadows, etc. I usually just grab two or three in the morning and it always seems to work. I can definetly relate to Hotmama's morning routine!

I got the cream liners as a sample to try and I LOVE them! It is nice to know that I can actually do a two minute eye and look great.
I have not tried the clear but I am tempted. BTW I was the one who said she prefers to dryline as gel liners look harsh/obvious on me. (Obviously I made this comment about '"other" liners!)

Yep, it's REALLY hard to go wrong! I've never had anything look "off", though a lot of combos sound strange when I write them out.

Hotmama, I *love* Dolce, too! I often, VERY often, use HighBeam & Dolce for my quick fix. If you don't already have it, you'll NEED Brimstone ~ *definitely*!

Have a fantabulous day, gals!

I still need to get my make up (and everything else!) organised, but I often do the same thing - just grab two or three colours randomly. Since my eyes are so deep-set, I usually do a two-colour (sometimes a three if I want to add something at the inner corner or the outer vee, but a crease I do not have), and they sometimes sound bizarre, but they work.

Hi rhys,

Do you have any EOTDs or could you do a quick tutorial? I have deep set eyes also and I'm not sure how to wear eyeshadow so that some color will show when i have my eyes open

I'm not Rhys (but feel free to chime in)- but I have the same issue. I do the 2 color eye digagram- just a wash, and then the outer v with a deeper color, that's kind of my every day look. The big thing with the deep set eyes is to watch the highlight color, and just a little to highlight the brow bone.

The cool part is because not much shows you can really wear just about any color fearlessly without it looking too over the top. Light liner, shimmer, crazy colors- you can go wild and have it look decent.

I also found this diagram for Asian eyes that explains it about as clearly as I've seen:

Sometimes I do it that way, or even just a one-colour wash - Cashmere is great for that, and there are some others, too.

Today I used everything foiled. Lilac over my lids and up to where it was just barely showing over where the crease would be were it visible, then Opal right above that, but not up to my brow - just enough to give my eyes a little sparkle. Wetlined the outer two-thirds of my lower lashline with Poly.

It's really nice if you've got green eyes.

One of my all-time faves is doing a wash with Bare (all over), then foiling Idolize on my lids to just over the crease, maybe (but not always) a touch of foiled Whisper just under the brow, and Taupetastic on the outer vee and wetlined.

I've seen some truly dizzying tutorials, and some of them are quite nice, but you don't have to spend two hours doing your eye make up. I love to play with colour, but if I tried that every day, it'd be all work and the fun would go right out of it. At times it's fun to jazz things up, like if you're going to a party, but you know when you see those girls whose make up is just 'too perfect' in the high-fash sense? They never really look happy, do they?
