avatar pics

Post by ladycattat » Sun May 16, 2010 2:12 pm

Hiya Karen....you'll be so happy this isn't a request for a color or product!
I am hoping that your wonderful hubby can maybe do something or wave a magic wand to make it easier to upload an avatar pic. The currect dimensions are so tiny!!! None of the pics I have available are small enough. I am obviously not computer savvy, and I don't know how to shrink pics so this is frustrating for me.

thanks for letting me get this off my chest!

i understand you're making a wish and i think it's a good one. In the meantime, i thought i'd give you a "how to" on shrinking photos.

I usually open the paint program twice to give myself 2 windows to toggle between. i go to the "properties" setting in one and reset the dimensions to the avatar size (is SN's 100 x 100 pixels?). I open the picture i want in the other thread and go to the "resize" function and type in how much i want it to shrink (do i want it to be half as big? a quarter?) if it's really large i'll shrink it to a normal viewing size and then go from there, trying to figure out what will be the same size square as what's in my other paint window. If you go to "properties" and select "pixels" and it will tell you what the photos dimensions are.

I agree though that it would be nice to just upload a slightly larger photo and have the site shrink the avatar for you (kind of like facebook)
