Re: Need Foundation Help? Please post here.......
Hi! I am new to this and am looking to switch from Everyday Minerals Fairly Light (almost perfect but maybe a little light for me) to this. I used Original Glo and Matte in EDM. Please help me find a recipe that will match my skin! I included a picture, I am the blonde on the right. Thanks!

I really can't figure out where I ought to start with my SN foundation. The first blend I made I actually don't remember what I put in it, but I lost it for a few months and when I tried it it was pretty close in color to Climax blush . . . and not at all a match! (The whole story is for another thread, but needless to say, do not try a full face test of something when you don't have time to fix it!) My skin tone has changed a lot in the past year. My years and years of acne scarring/resultant redness have almost entirely faded, and now I'm left with a complexion a lot less pink than it originally seemed.
I think this picture (sorry for the funny face!) gives a pretty decent picture of my natural color (this is no flash, indirect natural lighting, and zero makeup.)

Thank you so much!! I just ordered the deluxe sample kit, a sample of the medium coverage ivory and (couldn't resist) the eyelash conditioning gel. I'll come right back here when I've experimented with my mix. SO EXCITED!!!I am thinking you are slightly on the cool side. I would try Ebony at a 1 scoop color to 7 or 8 white for starters. If it is too flat, we can tweak it from there. Also, since you mention pink and red irritation, Olive might be another good bet. You will probably run a 1 Olive:about 14 White.

Re: Need Foundation Help? Please post here.......
Interesting point...I never thought about it, but it makes perfect sense that my skin went slightly drier when I switched from liquid to powder foundation - especially as the liquid foundation I'd been using had plenty of anti-aging and moisturizing ingredients. I am currently using a Vit C/AHA serum (to help with the acne scars) from Skinceuticals which is not at all moisturizing, with a light, oil-free moisturizer on top and sunscreen.JenW wrote:I think you do show a little warmth in your tone. I think our Warm Gold is a good place to start at a 1 scoop color to about 7 white. However, you mention foundation turning pink, so I would also try Buttery Gold in about the same ratio. Usually, I recommend a heavier coverage formula for concealer. It can be mixed to be slightly lighter than the foundation (which oddly works out to about the same ratio because of the more opaque coverage.)lilbit88 wrote:Hi - I have just ordered a Deluxe Sample Kit and could really use some advice on: (a) what formula to start with; (b) how to get the makeup to stay put without melting or fading. I am currently wearing Golden Light in Everyday Minerals which is a pretty decent match, but seems to turn somewhat pink along my jawline as the day wear on - and melts/fades off my t-zone. I am historically a liquid foundation user (Tarte Recreate Warm Bisque 06 - which has always been pink on me but somewhat close in a "natural" line), but with the summer coming, I wanted to find a mineral makeup that stays put and doesn't break me out. Also, I have some raised/flat red/brown acne scars on my cheeks and chin, and the EDM foundation really doesn't cover those very well.
I have also tried some of the Alima Pure range, but all of the colors I tried look very ashy and washed out on me. Maybe I am more pink than I thought?
I have attached a couple of pictures for further reference. Any pointers you can offer would be great. Thanks!
For getting your foundation to last, I recommend trying our Oil Control Primer or Blur Powder to see if they help with the oil. From your description, it does sound like oil is the culprit. Also, you want to make sure your skin is well hydrated (generally means it needs something more than just a moisturizer, like a serum or mist). Our skin tends to overproduce oil when it is dry. Skin may adjust slightly drier when going from liquid to powder foundation and the skincare might need a slight adjustment to compensate.
Is there a particular serum that you recommend? I do have sensitive/acne-prone skin and was eyeing either the super serum or vitamin C peptide...or is there a different one that you would recommend?
I should receive my sampler tomorrow, so will report back on the foundation recipes! Thanks!

I think Ebony will be the best for you, probably in a ratio of 1 scoop color to about 8 white. If it ends up too flat, we may need to add in some Buttery Gold or Warm Gold.prettylights wrote:Hi! I think Olive is a good place to start. You don't have the yellow in Buttery or the warmth for Warm gold, but there is something there that tells me you are still in the slightly warm range. I would try about 1 scoop Olive to about 18 (scary, I know) white. Olive is pretty dark, so if you are wanting to conserve white base, you might consider a half recipe. I would start at 1:16 (or 0.5 Olive..eyeball it...to 8 white and add a little more white at a time.)

The simplest one for your skintype would be Green Tea and Aloe. The treatment serums are great, but generally not quite as hydrating as the simpler ones.lilbit88 wrote: Interesting point...I never thought about it, but it makes perfect sense that my skin went slightly drier when I switched from liquid to powder foundation - especially as the liquid foundation I'd been using had plenty of anti-aging and moisturizing ingredients. Another help would be some kind of hydrating mist. We have our Pore Refining Toner (I love this with a misting pump) or any other hydrating mist..even water in a pinch...will help. Hydrated skin also has smaller pores which is a bonus!
If you do decided to give the Super Serum a try, make sure that it is not used in the same application as any AHAs or BHAs. It will likely cause your skin to flush because of reacting ingredients. The Vitamin C peptide is also a great treatment serum, but might be overkill with your Vit. C/AHA serum.

Which foundation for me?
Hi! I've been using EM in Golden Medium Tan and I'm a MAC NC44 with oily/sensitive/acne-prone skin. Here is my picture. What mixture foundation would work best? Thanks!http://megsmakeup.com/sites/default/fil ... G_0168.JPG ,
Re: Need Foundation Help? Please post here.......
I think I'm ready to order and try things out to see if the foundation here works better than the one I am using. I am very pale and tending toward yellow....blue veins, wear cool colors, look really awful in any makeup with any brown or peach in it whatsoever...like I put dirt on my face. I am currently wearing EDMs Cool Fair, which is a good match and evens out my skin tone well.
If I've read correctly....I just need the ebony to add to the base? Or should I order a full sample kit? (I promise I am not warm toned at all...)

I wouldn't have even thought to try the Olive. Although my mother and grandmother both have/had flat out olive complexions so I guess I should have. How many scoops do you think I'd need of the medium coverage ivory? Or the heavy coverage, for that matter? I tend to like a bit more coverage, and I used up all of my original coverage white sample in failed experiments already anyway, so I figure I might as well try both of those as well.
