Need help with browns

Post by Eliz24 » Sun Feb 14, 2010 1:08 pm

I've always thought that i was fairly cool toned, I wear purples, pinks and blues in clothing, and purples, pinks and browns mainly as eyeshadows. Then I started using SN and came out as a (very pale) warm gold base, which threw me a bit!

I've got Terra and Aztec, which people seem to be viewing as pretty neutral, but they both come out as too orange on me, so will be ending up on the swaps page I fear.

Which brown should i be going for, for a simple half asleep brown/neutral eye? Chocolate twinkle is beautiful on me as a liner, but I'd like a brown shadow to go with it please? I've got taupetastic and truffle, but would like something similar but lighter.

Thanks

Liz

What about Quartzite or Slick? Depending on how much shimmer you want, I find the latter quite.

My suggestions for basic browns that are very wearable would be Mink and Brown Sugar. Mink is a must have for me - a gorgeous combination of brown and purple. And Brown Sugar is quite popular, just a really nice brown with some shimmer. As Karen's says on the site - it's a great one color wash.

For something a litle more interesting try: Fete, Sunlit Bark and Wheat Penny - all a little more on the copper side.

Mink and Lurid are good bets if you need to stay away from warm colours. I'm especially partial to Mink. You might also want to have a look at Cougar.

Oh you should try Earth. I think of it as a cool brown. It has a really neat finish (karens description explains how she made it) I wear greys, purples and pinks but I love Earth. I am also a light warm gold. Its a limited edition so you should buy it fast. I think it will only be available until the end of February. I also love Moonstone which is kind of a purply brown.
