Looking shiny at the end of the day?

Post by meheeeen » Thu Jan 21, 2010 12:55 am

Today was my first day with Silk Naturals on and I loooove it. Mixing was way too fun and it goes on nice and smoothly. I set with perfecting powder and usually have quite dry skin so I was surprised to get home after about 6 hours and see my cheeks and t-zone were a little shiny.

What can I do to prevent this? What should I take for touch-ups in the middle of the day? Usually I would use clinique stay-matte powder but that was with liquid foundation.

I would suggest either finding a matte finishing powder (you can use the perfecting powder) and using that during the day to touch up.
I am naturally shiny, even if there is no oilies I just have a reflective skin surface I guess and I need to touch up the shiny bits at least 2-3 times a day, it only takes me a second, i just whip out said powder, apply fast like, and that's it!
you could just as easily use your clinique powder if you want. If it works for you and you like it, no point in not at least trying it. if that doesnt work then do try the perfecting powder, that is what a lot of girls would use for touch ups.....

If you can't touch up I find just blotting with tissue paper works :)

You might need Blur. I'm mixing the untinted oil control blur with tempt tryst and date bait to get a color similar to my foundation, so I don't change my color when I touch up.

Hi there. I am 47 years old and still have oily skin. Even using SN foundation(which my skin loves) I still would get the forehead and chin *shinies* by midday.
Now I use the Ultra Sheer Zinc Powder as my primer before I put on my foundation, and then I dust it on as my finishing powder. This is the first time in years I don't have to touch up during the day.

My skin is very fair, so I don't get a white cast , but if your skin is darker, you can tint it a little with one of your foundation bases.

The Zinc Powder is my HG product. Karen doesn't promote it as a suscreen for legal reasons, but it keeps my face from sunburning, and I just LOVE it!!!

I was wondering if you had ever tried the oil control primer? I am currently using it, and it doesn't control the oil as much as I would like, so I am wondering if the Ultra Sheer Zinc Powder would work better. (I am also over 45 and still struggle with oily skin.)

Hi ladybug.....I prefer as few skincare steps as possible. I'm terribly lazy about routines. The more there is to do, the less less likely I am to do them. Even though my skin is oily, I'm lucky in that I rarely break out, and I have hardly any wrinkles.
I use Say Yes To Tomatoes Troublefree Facial Cleanser and SN's Hemp Moisturizer. That's it. But I do use a generous amount of the Zinc Powder every single day.
Try a sample. Use it in place of the OCS, and see what happens. Your skin might just love it. I hear that a lot of us ladies of *a certain age* buy it by the potful!
