Something for Pock Marks

Post by eventide » Sun Jan 24, 2010 12:36 pm

Hi Karen,

I've been using your Super Serum, Facelift Serum and Firming Moisturiser for a few months and I love them. The BHA toner does wonders too.

I was wondering if it'd be interesting for you to come up with something that might help with pock marks? I had severe acne as a teenager and even though I don't get acne flareups anymore, the pock marks are still on my cheeks :( and are visible, with and without makeup. I know that nothing natural can cure them or bring back the skin that babies have, but maybe something that might help to fill out these depressions somewhat?

Cheers!

I think the only things that help with icepick scars (I have acne scarring too :( ) is microdermabrasion (the professional kind) or chemical peels. You can buy quite strong acids to do home peels, but I have always been too scared I would mess it up. I had professional microdermabrasion after my really bad cystic acne, and it totally made my skin baby soft again, but it had a many hundred dollar price tag. I have some scarring back now though as I still get flare ups from time to time, and a home microdermabrasion cream like Karens (I have a different one, but similar in terms of function) if used regularly (mine says to use for 30 mins until it balls up like eraser shavings) does help, but I think you probably need to see a professional to make a serious difference.

I have heard that a combination of lysine, proline, and vitamin C can boost collagen production and healing. I have no idea if it would help with scars. All those supplements should be available at a nutrition store. IDK if they work topically.

Thanks, ladies.

Yes, I did read up and consult on ablative laser, chemical peels, etc. but the downtime is far too long for me (I love the sun!) and I'm not that keen on having my skin thinned that way, hence the search for something more natural (even though the results won't be as good and probably need eons to show up). It's just a preference I have for the natural.

I've started on collagen pills a few months back as many of my colleagues claim that they make a difference to their skin. Not sure how that helps yet, but my nails have definitely strengthened!

Microderms, retinoids, chemicals peels, and "healing serums" only soften their look to a very small degree.

If you want something really noticeable than your going to have to try a seriously deep chemical peel, laser resurfacing,or dermabrasion(microdermbrasion times 100 lol).

And there's always the option of filler injections.

I heard once on an acne form that there was this product a lady would dab onto her icepick scars to fill them in,then when she applied makeup afterwards it looked better. Can't for the life of me remember what it was.

Microdermabrasion took care of all my scarring, but I guess it wasn't *that* bad, although bad enough for me. It took about 8 weekly sessions of having my face sandpapered though. It came back too, because I still had moderately active acne.
If I had the money I would soooo do it again, but the mortgage and kids come first these days (at least my mineral makeup obsession isn't $90/week, lol).
