where to start with a rosacea face?

Post by scapegrace » Sun Jan 17, 2010 12:19 am

I've been reading and looking and have a few ideas, but want to make sure I'm on the right track before I order a cart full of things that won't work for me :?

Right now I'm using Origins Perfect World line, but I'm looking for something more natural and more tailored for my skin. I've been using it for over a year with no reactions, but it hasn't really helped either. I'm 29 and have combination skin, leaning towards dry, esp in the winter and I only have occasional breakouts.

My main concern (other than the redness!) is the texture of my skin, large pores and general bumpiness. Also, anything anti-aging is great too, I want to get a head start on prevention!

I want to get both cleansers to alternate and I'm thinking about the pore refining toner. Any moisturizer/serum suggestions? Also, the order would be clean, rinse, tone, serum, moisturize?

Sorry for all the questions! Just wait until I make it over to the foundation thread!

Welcome! I have rosacea too- I'm a little bit older, but we're in the same age group. I personally use Super Serum, and the Firming Moisturizer. The Firming and the Intensive both have Renovage in them, and that really helps with redness. Super Serum is nice for redness because the niacinamide helps to restore the skin barrier so you're not as reactive to everything. For cleanser I generally just use water and a microfiber cloth- if I need heavy duty cleansing I use the Apricot Cleansing Oil on my eyes, and Kiss Cleanser for the rest of my face.

I'd recommend sampling first- the two that I use are fairly complicated formulas and not everyone can tolerate them- they're great if you can, but on really sensitive skin just start simply and be careful. If you wanted to kind of ease into things something like the Green Tea and Aloe Serum, along with the Hemp or Jojoba Moisturizers would be a good start.

I've found the big thing for my rosacea is to avoid silicones and glycerin and use lots of aloe. Pore Refining toner does have glycerin in it, but for my nose it's fine- I just don't use it on my cheeks. The rest of our products don't have any glycerin or silicones in them.

Good luck!

From what I've tried so far I've found the Zinc powder and the Ultimate Luxury Treatment Powder really helped calm the redness down.
I use the Zinc under my make up as a primer and the ULTP as a night treatment.
You should get a sample of them as well ;)

Thanks so much ladies! Now I feel like I have more of a understanding, so it's off to order some samples! :)
