How's the salve??

Post by karen » Fri Jan 15, 2010 12:20 am

How are you finding the salve?? The reason I'm asking is because it's a bit of a departure from the rest of our lippies- it's the first one without castor oil. Does it feel good on your lips? It's meant to absorb quickly- so lastability may be lacking somewhat, and I can always fudge around with the oil combinations- but is the consistency okay?

If you don't love it- it's totally fine to say so...that's why we do gumballs.

I got the carrot & pumpkin salve (as the other was out of stock when I ordered), but I've been saving it for my next cold sore (since the description said it was good for that, & since it also said it might not be good for frequent use on lips due to the lemon oil). I'll go ahead & try it out & leave my feedback soon.

I really like both salves. Lastability could improve, but not dramatically anyhow. The pumpkin one lasts longer. I applied at night and my lips were still moisturized. DH took it because he gets chapped lips and it has not make his lips overly shiny, he is really liking it. ;)
I use the carrot/pumpkin one at work for my hands/cuticles. Since I am sitting at a desk and not doing much else with my hands, this seems to be working nicely. It does absorb but I don’t really want oily fingers anyhow…
I get cracks sometimes on my fingers by the nail and this seems to be helping with those.
I also really love the smell. It is just barely noticeable and slightly sweet. I would buy these again if sold.

I got the Carrot and Pumpkin salve. I've been using it only on my cuticle area. I've used it 2x a day for 3 days and it looks to be helping a bit already. I wouldn't use this on my lips thou since I am not crazy about the scent for right under my nose LOL...

I have to admit that I LOVE the salves. I have really dry cracked skin on my hands this winter and I've been using the salve on my knuckles and cuticles. I've used it for three days now and LOVE it. My knuckles have improved drastically and my cuticles aren't so dry either. I would definitely buy larger ones---I'm trying to use my gumball sparingly but it doesn't do much good if you don't use it, right? I gave the pumpkin salve to the secretary at my school. She is pregnant and of course her body is doing all kinds of weird things. She was telling me one morning how dry her hands were and I told her I had something for her. She may now be a convert to SilkNaturals. :D (I love it when I influence someone in a good way!)

I just received my order yesterday, so only tried the carrot and pumpkin salve this morning.

I like its consistency. It's a bit hard for pod (or pot), but would be just nice in a tube. If my memory doesn't fail me, it's going to be in tubes when launched.

I like the scent. Refreshing without being over-powering.

It does not last that long for me. I normally use a lip balm, followed by SN lip gloss/es in the mornings. Today, I felt that my lips were somewhat dry after a couple of hours. I think it would work better as a cuticle salve but I forgot to try it on my cuticles. Will report back later.
