Bobbi vs Whirlwind? Daydream vs Very Berry?

Post by egerandi » Fri Jan 08, 2010 2:12 pm

How would the two compare? I've been wearing Bobbi a lot as MLBB but darker for every day, but I think my lips actually like the original (non-vegan) formula better. I also have the original Rapture (replaced by Rapturous) which looks really nice; would Whirlwind be a comparable sheerer substitute?

Similar question for Daydream and Very Berry: Daydream shows up lightish-medium cool pink on my lips and I'm considering Very Berry as a non-vegan replacement. Would that work? Or what would?

I don't have Bobbi or Daydream because the vegan formula doesn't work well for me either - I bought Figment, and got some samples - and they just don't suit.

So those I can't help you with. But we both have pretty pigmented lips and are cool-toned and fair. Very Berry and Whirlwind are both great. Very Berry is nice - not quite purple - I was afraid it would be but it isn't - just a very very cool pink. Whirlwind is more mauvey and darker, but a gorgeous colour nonetheless - I don't think you'll go wrong with either of them.

A-
I agree with Rhys. They will be great on you if you tend to go for more cool tones. Also, the Kisser Slicker formula was my first SN love (Ahhhh...Birthday Suit.....that and Date Bait). The vegan formula is my second choice. I do have to admit that my lips like a variety of formulas....and I am so glad Karen offers a few. I feel kind of spoiled.

I definitely like the idea of having a choice, which is why we still have the old formulations available to us. I don't have problems with the vegan, just prefer the feel of the original on my lips.

As fow Whirlwind: does it show up dark on your lips? I have to give away my Sweet Nothing (very strong early 90's lips if you know what I mean), just didn't work out. I can wear Bobbi and Figment and Fashionista - would it be comparable to those?

I think Very Berry is a go, just have to decide on Whirlwind. Or heck, my girlfriend will have another gorgeous lippie :)

Whirlwind shows up darker under bathroom lighting and lighter in regular light - I think it may be that it's got some of that pearling stuff in it.

I can wear Figment but it's a bit pale on me, and I don't like the crumbling or the feel of it. Can also wear Fashionista, no problem.

Whirlwind's dark enough so I can wear it even with the slight pearl (I usually can't wear those ones - Precious is hideous on me). Very Berry doesn't have any pearling - it just plain rocks.

I really think you'll like both of them.

Rhys, do you have pout? If so how does very berry compare to it. I got it but I think it is the shimmery part that doesnt look good on me either. The description for very berry says shimmery as well and you say it doesn't have any pearl, do you think you could explain the difference? Thanks.

Pout is great, and it's more of a true pink, though it's coolish - but not as cool-toned as Very Berry. Pout works on almost everybody, regardless of skintone.

Now, just because I can't wear something doesn't mean you can't. I can wear shimmer glosses just fine and they aren't OTT. But the pearled ones tend to come out either white or bronze on me - and way too shiny. They don't do that on most people.

I also can't wear the satin eyeshadows, because on me they look radioactive. But on most people, they're great, and far less shimmery than the shimmer ones.

Go figure.
