I've just bought a nice big bottle of the AHA toner and was wondering the best way of sticking it in my routine. I've got fairly oily skin with a load of blocked pores and a fair few zits.
My routine was
AM -
Kiss cleanser/Apricot scrub if I need it
Super Serum
Lush Enzymion Moisturiser (was Hemp, but my skins been tightening in the cold)
PM-
Kiss cleanser (Sometimes twice if I've been wearing loads of makeup)
BHA toner
Green Tea and Aloe Serum
Enzymion Moisturiser
Last night I used AHA for the first time, it was a little bit stingy right away but after a minute was fine, and had no redness or anything nasty looking. I followed with GT&A serum and moisturiser and lovely soft skin ensued! I'd like to keep on using the BHA because of zits and whatnot, but what do people recommend? Was thinking of alternating between BHA and AHA every night and seeing how I go, and maybe switching to just AHA if it seems to help with the skin woes! Is that too much to start off with? Also how long do you leave the toners before adding the serums? I've been aiming for about 10/15 mins.
AHA first time!

Re: AHA first time!
10 to 15 minutes should be good.....15 is better than 10
(I know I struggle with this, too.)
Also using the AHA at night and alternating every other with BHA should be good. If you notice your skin feeling a little sensitive, back it off a little to like- day 1 AHA..day 2 BHA..day 3 off....

Re: AHA first time!
I like to have both BHA and AHA in my routine. Both are great exfoliates and work differently. The BHA works well with oily skin and will help to exfoliate within the pore. Helps with clogged pores. The AHA works more on the surface for fine lines. I like to use BHA in the AM and AHA at night. The AHA also helps fade acne scarring.sewwies wrote:I've just bought a nice big bottle of the AHA toner and was wondering the best way of sticking it in my routine. Re: AHA first time!
Just make sure you don't use Super Serum and acids in the same application......or at least be aware. The Super Serum/Acids combo will most likely make your skin flush almost like you have instant sunburn.

Re: AHA first time!
Yeah I'm being super careful now. I was using BHA with SS before I realised but the AHA on its owns a little stingy so sticking to green tea and aloe. Thanks for your help!
