Lunar and Martian

Post by ladycattat » Mon Nov 30, 2009 11:11 pm

I am totally mesmerized with Lunar and Martian. Has anybody got them and could explain them? I saw the NARS shadow this is based on, and even though they are supposed to be dupes...I just don't see it.
And how wearable are they? are they SFW, or are they really intense?

thanks for your help

Same question! I was hesitant to order Martian after I saw swatches of the product it's a dupe of. But it looks awesome on the SN site, so I'm intrigued.

The NARS version of Martian swatches oddly...I never fell in love with it from looking at pics online, but after I played with it at the counter I fell for it. I think it's absolutely SFW, but it is decidedly on the cool side- there isn't a speck of anything warm or goldish in the duo. I'm not 100% convinced it would be the best choice for a warmer toned person.

NARS colors are neat- they're "straight but not narrow"- flattering, wearable, but crafted with just a hint of an edge. They were fun to clone.

I'm a newb...what is SFW  :)

I say go for it...I am not that good explaining colors, or picking out undertones and all, but I have Martian and Lunar and I really like them together. To me, they are very wearable, usually the aqua colors are a bit out of my comfort zone. I don't know if it has a bit of gray in it that tones down the intensity of the aqua, but it is lovely and Martian is the same it is very understated. They make a great duo, I used Retro as a highlight as well and it looked great. I am usually a neutral girl, but like you something about those colors intrigued me and I am glad I bought them. :D

I have Lunar and it is very pretty, a really nice seafoamy green. I like to make my looks pretty brilliant/out there but it does make a pretty wash if you prefer a more subtle look.

I got a gift from the eyeshadow fairy today. Included were samples of Lunar, Martian, Cyberton, and Gargle Blaster.
I did quick swatches and took a photo.
This photo was taken at dusk outside. This is the inside of my wrist. For reference I am very fair, with yellow undertones.
These colors were applied with a damp brush....so the effects are a little more pronounced then they would be dry.

Cyberton and Gargle Blaster are very different. Gargle Blaster reads greeny-gray, while Cybertron reads very bronzy-olive.

Lunar is lovely! It's a subtle shimmery pale teal, and it's everything I wanted from a blue/green shade.
Martian is a lot more interesting than it appears on the swatch. It's a medium taupe-plum, with a VERY, VERY, tiny aqua sparkle.

All of them are different enough from each other that you NEED all 4. And while they are certainly *out of this world*, they are not at all scary.
